The Stones were terrible in Hyde Park. How about the MSG shows in 1969 that were captured on Get Yer Ya Yas Out and Gimme Shelter the movie? Hyde Park was an event, but so was Altamont and they both were disasters for different reasons.

Should it be a joke? Stones in the Park? No rehearsing, no guitar tuning, great moments, sure, they are the Stones always, but In the Park isn't their greatest concert by far, but one of their weakest.
for @#$%& sake, what is so difficult about this to grasp
A readers poll based on key concerts in music history
Hyde Park may have been a shit show but in terms of event, historical significance or spectacle it was the most famous concert of the band's career - the only one that comes close is Altamont, and thats only remembered for all the wrong reasons. I mean, do people expect folks to vote for an untelevised concert in another country that they werent at?
Live Aid was the most watched concert in history. Queen were generally regarded as the show-stealers at it (whether you like them or not). A no-brainer for #1.

LOL!...couldn't agree more....Freddy had a great voice, but I just can't stand their music...this list begs the question, Where is Journey?

the performance factor alone isnt the point of the poll. which is also why the Stones in the Park gets a high vote despite the protestations of people too daft to grasp the concept that a superior show that they were at or heard on some bootleg is less significant
Well, it should be the performance factor alone shouldn't it? It's a bit lame to make it like this. It's like when Mojo or Q (Can't remember) made alist of the biggest bands ever by using some lame math system for most albums sold, most audience at a single concert and so on.....
This list of gigs is somewhat similar to the one made by Q Magazine a few years ago. The Stones were number 13 (or something) with the Wembley 1999 gig.
