Wow I didn't realize he was that old - good for Willie

We took my sister to see Loretta Lynn a few years ago - she was probably 73- voice sounded about the same but sitting down and frail - like visiting your Grandmother-

The most surreal show we took her to was this guy Ronnie Milsaps - he's blind and plays piano - he would play a song or 2 and talk for 20 minutes while controlling a powerpoint presentation that he couldn't see - i was thankful for the 8 dollar beers that night-

Wondering how Mick is able to stay in such great shape while in Italy for this extended period.
With all the exquisite Italian food, I'd probably balloon to twice my size.

I recall visiting there years ago, and all the walking as a tourist helped to balance out all the pasta I was consuming.
Not sure if Mick is a fan of giant plates of pasta and the like, but if so he must have treadmills in every corner of his house.

Love that Mick appears to be a cat person.
Have and love both cats and dogs, but cat people are usually the best people.

Had seen the Fallon bit, great! Part of why I assumed he was cat lover.
Haven't seen shots of Mick with a dog that I recall.. Keith definitely.

A long time ago I know, so the dog is probably dead by now but I'm pretty sure he had a black lab in 'Being Mick'.2001................(of course he may have got another, I don't about that....

Regarding Mick still being in Italy, started thinking about the Italian version of As Tears Go By aka "Con Le Mie Lacrime".
I always loved it, but never knew the background as to why they would record and release this tune in Italian.
Well it got me thinking on this pleasant Sunday morning, and the answer might be obvious, but have the Stones ever recorded any other tunes of theirs in a different language?
I know the Beatles did a German version of I Want to Hold Your Hand aka "Komm gib mir deine Hand", but other than that, not sure if they did any others either.
Again, answer might be obvious, but scratching my head unable to think of any at the moment..thinking maybe they did something like Yesterday in a different language?

As for "Con Le Mie Lacrime", can't find much info. as to the who, what, where, or why, but according to wiki:

"The Stones released a version with Italian lyrics as a single in Italy, under the title "Con Le Mie Lacrime"[7] with the lyrics written by Danpa".

Never heard of Danpa, but evidenty he was an Italian composer.

Anybody have any other info. on "Con Le Mie Lacrime", and whether the Stones or Beatles recorded any other tunes in different languages?

Danpa is the pseudonym of Dante Panzuti, italian lyricist and composer

The Beatles also recorded Sie Liebt Dich (She Loves You).

Would be cool if Mick was recording a new version of Living in a Ghost Town in Italian.

According to this site, it would be titled "Vivere in una città fantasma"....

Ghost Town

Sono un fantasma
Vivo in una città fantasma
Sono un fantasma
Vivo in una città fantasma

In Italy, we have a very popular song festival/contest yearly held in San Remo, nearby the French border. Usually, foreign acts perform as geuest stars, but in the Sixties things were different. At the time, each Italian singer was coupled with a foreign singer/group who would sing their song in Italian.
As a consequence, many foreign superstars sung in Italian. If my memory serves me well Stevie Wonder, the Yardbirds, David Bowie, Louis Armstrong released records in Italian, in Italy.Almost surely, many more did. Their records did pretty well, in some cases. Sometimes, their records never sold (David Bowie).
I don't know if the Rolling Stones ever planned to have a guest appearance at San Remo, but it's not strange that DECCA Dischi made Danpa available for an Italian version of 'As Tears Go By'as Italian beat groups and singers used to translate many songs of the Rolling Stones for their own cover versions some of which were very successful - like Caterina Caselli's 'Tutto Nero' ('Paint It, Black).
Maybe the Rolling Stones (or ALO?) wanted to present their own Italian version rather than let somebody else translate 'As Tears Go By'
In 1967, Marianne Faithfull appeared at San Remo festival and Mick Jagger spent circa a week in San Remo with her (nice pictures of the couple on the seashore exist). Hope this helps, bye

Danpa aka Dante Panzuti "translated" allso Please Please Me for Fausto Leali (an italian singer 'a la' Wilson Pickett), and some Simon's songs: Red Rubber Ball, Richard Cory and I Am A Rock

Yes, in the mid-sixties there was a very popular feedback between english and american beat, pop and rock stars singing in italian and, on the other hand, the translation of hits in italian.

here it is Bowie singing Space Oddity in italian on the words by Mogol (reknown writer of the lyrics for the early Battisti albums)

Here it is Caterina Caselli's italian cover of Paint it Black

the lyrics are completely changed from a space odyssey into an heartbreak promenade through a city at night

to be honest i dont like it very much.

also in those days english speaking singers barely knew the meaning of the words but sung on a kind of transliteration

here it is an example I like much better, Nina Simone to Love somebody / Così ti amo

That was nice maumau, but I was specifically referring to the actual artists themselves recording versions in different languages such as the Stones, the Beatles, and the Bowie example you posted.
If we were talking about foreign language cover versions of famous songs by other artists, the list could go on forever.
However, since we've taken a detour there, this is perhaps one of my all time favorite Stones cover tunes sung in a different language from the late, great Karel Gott.

From 1969, enjoy. smiling smiley
