Stones to call it Quits!

When asked last night is this the last tour,Mick looked at the rest of the band and said this: You know last night we were all in my hotel room checking out one of our fan web sites,IORR and drinkin some beers that Ronnie brought over. The fans kept complaining about the set lists, ticket prices,Ronnies playing,Chuck, the new guy on bass whats his name,Keiths fingers and all other kind of nonsence,we had a good laugh at them! All they do is complain about us and we still sell out every city we go to. You think they would catch on sooner our later but they keep throwing money at us,so the jokes on who? Then Keith said: Hey,I only know two or three cords anymore,I've forgotten the rest of them.So what,I say raise the ticket prices! Then Ronnie said: Pass me another beer. Then Charlie said: I'm leaving the band...thats right I'm putting the jazz band back togather and doing a Holiday Inn tour of Scottland.I'm tired of all this sillyness. Mick said: Well we don't need the money and I've allways wanted to be a stockbroker and wear a suit!Keith said: And I've always wanted to have time to do the things I've always wanted to do such as play in one of those Mexican swing bands down in Cabo. Ronnie what you gonna do? Ronnie said: mmm donno, pass me a beer...Then Mick said: Ok,Heres what we do,for the rest of the tour, tee shirts are gonna be 250.00 dollars each. We come out and open with Start me up then Keith sings one and the shows over.Ronnie you just stay at the hotel. We'll get all the money at the end of the tour and then were done! Then they won't have us to push around anymore over at that IORR site. Take the money and run boys.

Number one, the Stones care very little or not at all what a relatively small group of hardcore fans think, and I believe they are right to feel that way. We will follow them no matter what they do, no matter how much we may complain while doing it. It is the average fan who only knows the songs that are played on classic rock radio that they are trying to cater to.

It's not an ideal situation for the Stones fanatic, but I'm glad they're still playing at all. And in my opinion and a lot of other people's, they're playing pretty damn well.

Number two, there is a new invention called paragraphs, perhaps you've heard of them.

You're right about that! I've been meaning mention that some of the grammer around here is atrocious. If ya can't talk american right don't talk it. Know what I mean?

To me,it's not about trying to please crazy hardcore fans as much as it is about being a real functioning band.Around the time of the Steel Wheels Tour,I remember reading an article in which the Stones ridiculed bands like The Who for regurgitating a set of old hits repeatedly without balancing it out with other material such as new songs.Since January of 1998(going on eight years),they have only added six new original songs to their shows.
During the Licks Tour,Richards stated in another interview that they said "If we are going to do this(tour again),we need to add more ammo(songs)."
I'm pretty sure that they know more than a few people will be disappointed by what they are doing now.Maybe they are aware that many of their "fans" actually don't like them anymore so,they stopped trying to please them.

Under My Thumb,Emotional Rescue,Time Is On My Side,& Hang Fire all get steady radio play - even Dance Little Sister gets some.

I see it this way. There are more generic Stones fans out there, than there are hard core fans like us. So they want to meet the masses needs. Which are the big hits. Yes it would be great to have another tour like No Security or even the small club gigs when they play obscure songs that you rarely hear.

We will not only follow them but we will also buy all their shit, right? Maybe we all should collect some money and hire the Stones for some Vegas show where they will have to play the songs I want to hear.

Money is the motor that keeps the Rolling Stones running. And with Mick it's probably also some personality problem. Everything alright in the critics section?

Aaaaahhhhh, the Stones'll keep goin' on and on and on and on...kinda like the Energizer bunny! In the twilight of their years, they'll finally hang it up with the Steel Wheelchairs tour! Don't ask me what the ticket prices will be though! I don't even wanna think about that! lol smiling smiley

It would be nice if everyone would just enjoy the music that the Stones have been giving us since 1963 and SHUT UP about everything else.

Oh wait, then there would be no forum.

Yeah, I knew it was a joke, but to me it seemed like the joke was "they suck for all these reasons, so let's trash them and be sarcastic about it." Certainly all the material in there is stuff people really complain about constantly: the set list, high ticket prices, they're only in it for the money, Ronnie and/or Keith can't play anymore, etc., etc., and that's what I was commenting on.
