Ouch! I think this guy posts on this board! Interesting to note that most people replied back to defend the Stones and their own freedom to spend their entertainment dollar to see whoever they want. It's also telling that the writer attacks commercialism (aka Capitalism) as a bad thing. That's pretty typical of the anarchistic mindset of the "educated" youth in that part of the country. I'm suprised that he mentioned the well-worn setlist (how would he know?). The only thing he left out was Ronnie's guitar playing.
"In pulling the wool over the eyes of their adoring admirers, the Stones are simply taking it to the bank."
So what he's saying here is that the tens of thousands of people who plunk down their cash for tickets are too stupid to correctly decide how to spend their entertainment dollars. Typical snotty, know-it-all college punk. He knows what is good and valuable, and you don't. He'll probably graduate and may eventually discover what an idiot he was.
I've bought the new CD and $160 tickets to six shows for two reasons:
1) I like the shows and the music. 2) It's my money and I can spend it anyway I please.
I don't buy the tour merchandise for two reasons:
1) I don't want it. 2) It's my money and I can spend it any way I please.
Duane I agree with you whole-heardetly! And boy, I sure am enjoying your guys commentary. Definetly what I needed after trying to write a 5 page paper on the effects of visual propaganda during the European Religous Reformation. Cheers Folks! Hail to the Stones! Tom

Is that even possible? I mean, without making up 75% of it?
hehehe. Sadly Yes just talk to R. W. Scribner from University of Cambridge. He has a 300 hundred page book about it. Duane keep fighting the good fight. A conservative appreciates your comments over here in the midwest. I can understand joke from "hurtful" messages. Take care man. Tom
He never went to amy show. This was in fact written before the show in Portland. He doesn't like people who make success and he is very frustrated in general. I guess a Britney Spears show would do him good, or something else like a free blues concert by some starving artist who never made it.

Well said! What is he spending his money on, hacky sacks? Give me a break!

Good points, and LOL at the starving blues artist. "Tonight, for one night only, free blues by the Starving Artists Who Never Made It Band. Frustrated Britney Spears fans welcome."

I agree with 90% of the "review" but they've been cashing in for a long time--people complained about ticket prices in 1969. And they were the first to have a corporate sponsor--in 1981. I blame Mick for most of that--Keith is just happy to play--anyway, anywhere. Bob Dylan has been doing some sickly cashing in lately, too. Neil Young, however, provides a more positive example of continuing to create great music and tours w/o sucking up for corporations and I'm sure he's not hurting for cash.
I dig the new Stones album but their last few have sucked.

I dont buy that myth for a second
Its not mick's band to make decisions without the input of the others. If keith and the rest of the band had a problem with the 'cashing in' issue, they would have done something about it long ago.
This whole "Keith's only in it for the music and Mick The Sell-Out is forcing the commercialism on him" schtick is laughable
Better to have people play bad music anytime than make war!! So what's against The Stones still being alive and kicking? If they wanna play, they should. If people like it, they go out and listen and see them (and pay for it).
So people like that so called critic who don't like The Stones to play, is no music lover at all! For every music there is a crowd... everyone should respect that. It has no sense bashing that fact!
Ok, right, Muddyw. Maybe he has no friends and bad sex. lol, that´s the only reasons I can think of. He should buy himself a good bottle of vodka and put on Bigger Bang.
Obviously there are no righteous altruists in the Stones, I just believe that Mick's the economic mastermind but maybe I should read more biographies. Or I don't credit Keith w/ doing anymore than plugging in and busting some Berry licks.
Anyway that guy is obviusly not a fan of the band.
