Why would they release the old version a second time if it was going to be remixed?

It really sucks that this is not available on Apple I tunes.Great show, great tour. 1975 is in my top 5 of best tours along with 1969,1972,1973, and 1989-1990

No, it is from DVD. Different show.

Video from LA 75 and audio from LA 75 are different shows. New mix is the same show from 'July 13' (or 12) but remixed. Nothing to do with DVD version.

You can only get both shows on CD from extremely expensive and exclusive WARD records Superdeluxe [WRDZZ-163].

Regarding that 'new mix' and the other two albums issued in Japan in 2020.
________
On July 29, 2020, to mark the 30th anniversary of The Rolling Stones' first visit to Japan, Universal Music Japan released three exclusive live albums as standalone CDs in paper jackets (mini vinyl replicas):

2. L.A. Forum - Live in 1975 (New Mix Version) [UICY-79176/7]. Same July 13, 1975 show, but with a new mix released here for the first time.
3. Hampton Coliseum - Live in 1981 [UICY-70178/9]. Recording of the December 18, 1981 show at Hampton Coliseum, Virginia. Previously available via Stones Archive download and as a part of 2CDs+video bundle (The Rolling Stones From The Vault series).

Restored, remixed and remastered from the original master tapes. Track 01-Introduction 1:54 was added to CD1. It was absent for 2014/Bob Clearmountain mix. Also, there are several edits. Namely, crowd noise and Jagger’s stage banter between the songs were removed/shortened. The most noticeable edits are: CD1 06-Gimme Shelter 5:46 (vs. 6.12), 10-Happy 2:54 (vs. 3:59), 11-Tumbling Dice 4:50 (vs. 5.24), CD2 01-Fingerprint File 8:58 (vs. 10:00). There are others, shorter edits of 5-15 seconds length in between tracks, however, the musical content, apparently, was not edited.

There are no big improvements in sound quality with this new mix, if there are any at all (IMHO). Yes, Ron’s and Keith’s guitars are now panned left and right, which gives a bit broader stereo scene. Bass below 100 Hz was boosted (good for cheap speakers), something was pushed in mid-range (not always good), and frequencies above 15 kHz rolled off (strange move). The latter is not as sharp and ugly as for mp3 conversion but still disturbing - noise reduction maybe?

The main crime is compression. Too much. The 2014 release (and 2012 digital download) was already not perfect, it was brickwalled in mastering. But at least it sounded a bit more relaxed. The mastering of the new mix takes it further to the wall. This extra compression together with the strange EQ choices points to typical mastering for a portable/mobile device. Maybe that was the idea behind this new mix. Otherwise, it is hard to see the reason other than a cash grab. Go figure. However, completists will buy this release anyway, no matter how it sounds. Actually, this one went out of print/sold out long ago and nowadays is unreasonably overpriced on the secondhand market.

PS. On a side note. Japanese black and white booklet for 2020 new mix [UICY-79176/7] is identical to the booklet for 2014 Bob Clearmountain mix [UICY-79174/5] other than the front cover (catalogue number and track list) and the back cover (copyrights). The information about these two editions is mixed without any further explanation. The text in the booklet reads: This album, originally released as a digital download on April 2, 2012, from the Rolling Stones Archive and Google Music as "L.A. Friday (Live 1975)," and issued on physical media on November 5, 2014, as the second installment in the From the Vault series under the title "L.A. Forum (Live In 1975)." Under this name it is reissued now in three formats: two SHM-CD in paper jackets and a DVD. This is a special item commemorating the 30th anniversary of The Rolling Stones' visit to Japan and marks the world's first CD release featuring the new mix. The Bob Clearmountain Mix CD, previously only available in a video bundle, will also be released separately for the first time, exclusively in Japan.’

Got it, thanks! Not really into video so I didn't bother with the DVD when it came out. Imho it sounds way better than the CDs which certainly aren't Clearmountains best work.
