Now i have your attention you can be sure this is a Mathijis free thread! A safe haven from the negativeos!
Actually i was listening to Columbus this morning and have to say it is straight and true. It is good enough. The second half at least. I have a theory that the Stones get hotter throughout a gig and end up red hot by the end. (god knows how they come down). I reckon that it is the early starts to shows that are to blame. Keiths body clock says, " i want to play from 11 till 2am". and as that is not ok for all the reasons we understand in the tame west, we have to wait for the crank up during the shows. So be it.
Aw yeah Captain...How do they come down?...That's something I've often wondered I mean if ya go to a show ya buzz for a week...so what is it like for them? They must walk on clouds...
i'm the only one to be a bit annoyed to rate this tour, to compare it to the others? shit they're back, they are the rolling stones: let's see the shows and just be happy to have the chance to see them again!!!
No, but it's very good overall. The guitars are up, Chuck and the rest of the backing band are turned down. It's a better tour than Licks just because of that. Sure Licks had more varied setlists, but I'll take even a handful of new songs over all oldies any day. This tou is better than 89-90 too IMO. The sound on that one was too slick and polished.
In that case their best tour ever has to be Bridges to Babylon! Yes, that's their best tour ever and ever. Nothing theyve done comes even close to Bridges.
Does it really matter whether it is or it is not ? The enjoyment YOU get out of a show personally is what counts, and for me having seen THREE shows so far on this tour with three really good friends, and with all the excitement of travelling from the U.K. to the U.S. - this is shaping up to be their best tour ever. But I'm not even considering issues like musicianship, setlists, etc. Just fun, excitement, better overall sound and less prominence being given to the backing musicians. Just can't WAIT now for summer 2006 and UK/Europe. Rock on boys ......... !!

As would I, I just wish we had more new songs this tour. This tour has been just the big hits with a small taste of a few new songs. Only 3 many nights. You'd almost think this tour was the one that they put out another greatest hits package (with only 15 songs) and not a new album.
