the worst posts I've ever read
Posted by: Shezeboss ()

scuse me but the Mathijs and Gazza's posts are really the worst on this forum. It's indeed incredible to send as much as crap in a so short period. I'm not sure that Band of pleasures is made for you. The Rolling Stones give us so much vibrations, you could'nt prevent us from that magic. Mathis, I have to say all what you tell about Guitar on this forum is exactly all the contrary of the reasons why I love the instrument.

I disagree! I think I've posted just as much crap on this forum! I demand equal time!

That's funny. I'd say they write the most interesting and thoughtful posts on this web site as far as I'm concerned.

truth be told - the two of them represent the absolute pinnacle of insightful, thoughtful and perceptive posters on this forum. they do tend to irritate the masses - but then the truth hurts sometimes.

I have to agree with T&A and the Stones on this one as well. It's one thing to say that you don't like the current incarnation of the Stones or the set list is boring and so on but its quite another to be able to substansiate such statements with what more often the not are insightful and debate provoking commentary.

Too often it seems when one says anything less than complimentary about the Stones they are shouted down by some on this board who are either unwilling or unable to indulge in thoughtful disscusion. Instead comments like "You're full of shite" and "You're an @#$%& for saying such a thing about the Stones" are used. Like them or not, Mathijs, Gazza and others like them help make this board interesting and thought provoking.

Shezeboss, an innocent question: could it be that Mathijs and Gazza's posts are the worst on this forum because they opinions don't match yours, maybe?

if you actually possessed a braincell in your head and re-read my posts on the 'worst tour' thread, you might actually see that I didnt say this was a poor tour, I didnt say the playing was bad and I didnt say the shows werent enjoyable for those who were there - and that I also said that fully expect to enjoy the shows that I DO intend to see on this tour and that its very hard for anyone to come out of a Rolling Stones show without having enjoyed themselves (I would also guess that I'll probably end up seeing more shows than you will on this tour too)

I simply defended someone's right to have an opinion - be it positive or negative - about the quality of a concert based on hearing a recording of it and without being there

Now what part of that strikes you as negative or threatening? Most of the points I made in that thread were actually positive - much more so than many other posters. Seems like its a personal crusade with you as far as I'm concerned, going by your track record. So if I get up your nose a bit, maybe I'm doing something right. The day that you make a sensible, coherent and well argued post will be your first.

you've merely proved a point I did bring up earlier that whilst some posters can back any criticism up with well written analysis it seems thats not the case with many of those who cant grasp the concept of honest critique and who have to react to it with personal insults and replies totally devoid of any depth.

You might feel the need to hide your convictions that not everything about the Stones as they are in 2005 is perfect due to some kind of peer pressure, hunger to be accepted or to 'fit in' but some of us are a bit more honest than that and call it as we see it. If it makes you uncomfortable, tough titty.

I think I'm the most well-rounded, then. My posts are to GENUINELY cause an ARGUMENT.

the worst post occur when people, to remain nameless...just post crap like "great picture" after everyone they see or "great review" after every review the read... mostly happens on StonesDoug, i know he's a younger dude but he posts on every topic..just kinda want to slap him..

yeah - that's the kind of cheerleader crap that basically sent me packing from Stonesdoug's site. He's a pretty cool guy, personally, and some of the members I know personally and are wonderful people. But, there's absolutely no opportunity there to pose a dissenting view these days....you think this site is bad for that? think again....

I may not always agree with Mathijs and Gazza's posts, and there are times when I've been known to very strongly disagree with these guys, but each of them help make this board the great debating discussion board that it is. Along with many other superb contributors (who I also quite often disagree with) their postings are generally excellent.

Long may the fall-outs (and fall-ins) continue.

So, Gazza..here is an intellectual question for you: How did you get a "BOLD" font on this forum?
Seriously (sort of), I remember the banter that went around during the 40 Licks Tour, it was somewhat more interesting/amusing...wonder what happened to some of those people? You were around then. Where are they? Imposter, Monkey Man (rare post these days), the feuds on this board between Johanna and Debra. The caustic arguments between Monkey Man (hi Kyle) and the person who went by many nomenclatures.

I miss the legend that was Giant Whore myself, Marcia - she was funny

My dear friend Johanna is still around but spends a lot of time in exotic locales diving these days

To get a word in bold font, you type and then type the word you want highlighted in between the two

you can do the same for italics -

and if you want to post an image, post with the URL of the image inbetween

But seriously, how do you do that bold font thing that you do?

Do tell.

And

p.s. Gazza's one of the best reasons to read this board.

Thanks

I was trying to show Marcias how its done there, camper - but as you can see by the number of edits - its trickier to explain that it is to actually DO! LOL

who wants a sugar-coated rah rah board that worships the ground the stones walk on. i love that we can criticize and give praise. otherwise, it would be the most boring forum ever!
