Bill Wyman..still a Rolling Stone ?!

Hi,
after reading Mathys comment that he is bashing the Stones for wiping Wyman out of the upcoming rarities CD I want to say:

Wyman is not in the band anymore...it was his own decision and his own will
to leave the band.
So if the Stones release a new CD these days....Wyman does not belong to.
and there are also songs on it which were recorded after the Wyman years.

But the main point why I do not count Wyman as a Rolling Stone in present is that he refuses to autograph anything which the Rolling Stones are on.
For example: if you give him an old Stones album to sign....he refuses to because he do not see himself as a Rolling Stones anymore..,..
What a nonsense imo.
that said it is quit logical the stones wipe hime out from future releases.

all kinds of joy & blessings on the cat, whatever he wants to do (or sign) -
and there are 12 years' worth of really great photos without Bill in 'em that they could've used for that new album cover.

yes he is gone...and the stones are smart to move on too....
bill has to be kicking himself in the ass for leaving...i don't care what he says.....he can't help miss the money and the excitement..

i agree with salar, bill was a rolling stone, just like brian and mick taylor...
but they are all gone now....and jagger/richards are still rolling like they did when they were kids....kinda of cool to think of it that way!

Yet he had no problem "authoring" Rolling With the Stones a few years ago.

Whatever.

if wyman played on the songs, he should be on the cover....give credit where credit is due....leave all the twisted bitter feelings in the closet

And after getting him out of the cover I wouldn't do it neither... As our dear sssoul said, they must have many photos since Bill left to put on the cover. Maybe they have to put a pic from the seventies to make the record more attractive to potential buyers??

well, as someone else pointed out somewhere,
it may be that Bill doesn't want to be on the cover.
we don't know, do we - but i still find it weird that they chose to blot him out
instead of using a shot that he wasn't in to begin with.

all this bitchin - the man can sign what he feels like signing, right?
i know someone whose copy of ER Keith refused to sign. :E
you can love 'em for it or love 'em in spite of it -
i don't see a lot of other options.

At least he signs. I've never seen Mick kneeling down on the stage to give autographs.

just curious: has anyone here asked any Stones other than Bill to sign copies of Rolling With the Stones?

before a rhythm' kings-show here in austria in 2001 i met wyman in front of the concert hall and asked him to sign the cover from let it bleed. he said: i don't sign this stuff! after someone asked him why not, he only said: I'm not a rolling stone!!!!???? luckily i brought on his first solo record which he signed. i don't understand why he doesn't sign stones-stuff where he was with the band. the next time i'll try it with voodoo lounge-smiling smiley
btw, taylor signed the ya-ya's cover in 1998

I heard an interview w/ Bill during 40 Licks where he was asked if he would do shows in the UK w/ the Stones--a limited tour. He said "oh yeah" "I would just want to be able to rehearse their new songs--they have so many--I know all the old songs" "but they haven't asked me". He repeated he would want want to rehearse the new stuff about 4 or 5 times. I heard this audio on the Beggars Banquet site.

My impression is that he is just not into these grueling year plus tours. I just wish Mick and Keith would ask Bill to record w/ them. He was really an integral part of the Stones sound.

I contributed a lot to my old job, and they still use a lot of programs I wrote, web pages I designed etc., but they don't have my picture on their website anymore because I don't work there anymore. The same principal applies with Wyman as far as I'm concerned. And considering that he won't sign any Stones stuff, even things that were released when he was in the band, I doubt he even wants to be on the cover. Wyman sounds like a cool guy based on his book, and I love his bass playing, but he and the Stones have both moved on.

lets not forget his restaurant "sticky fingers" in london. i never made it there but i understand there are pictures of the stones everywhere - he's making money off the fact he was a stone. i had hoped the souveniers you could buy had some stones pics but a mug and t-shirt i got from a friend had nothing interesting, nor mention of the stones. i figured it was a copyright thing.

It was great Rock & Roll last night & then having Eddie Floyd.
Happy to do his "still soulful songs" - "easy" in the beginning.
Then getting everybody on their feets - a "competision" back then
in 1967 - they knew that Otis Reading was "IT" !!

All the Best !
