That list could almost be "the Worst of Solo Jagger". It features many of his most embarrassing ventures.
Jagger did best with ballads, Blues..slower material. For uptempo he makes the same mistake that the whole world makes when trying to recreate Stones rockers: he forces the tempos, the sus chords. And those DREADFUL Jagger bridges. Eflat, E flat, Eflat. Even if it is not an E flat, it still is.
Side A of 'Primitive Cool" is the same song 3 times, maybe even 4 times.
Jagger needs a partner or a real producer at all times. That is not a liability.

I wonder.. do people exist who are fans of Mick Jagger's solo work but don't like his work with the Stones?

Yes, I imagine there are but I don't know what the politically correct term is for these kind of people. winking smiley

I prefer Jagger´s solo work to "Blue and lonesome" and much more to "A bigger bang"

Now call me what?

A reasonable Jagger Essentials would be a proper singles collection.

1.) Just Another Night
2.) Lucky in Love
3.) Dancing in the Street
4.) Ruthless People
5.) Let's Work
6.) Throwaway
7.) Sweet Thing
8.) Don't Tear Me Up
9.) God Gave Me Everything
10.) Visions of Paradise
11.) Old Habits Die Hard
12.) Charmed Life
13.) Gotta Get a Grip
14.) England Lost

My own personal Jagger Essentials would be...

1.) Just Another Night
2.) Throwaway
3.) KowTow
4.) Party Doll
5.) Sweet Thing
6.) Don't Tear Me Up
7.) Out of Focus
8.) Evening Gown
9.) Wandering Spirit
10.) Hang On To Me Tonight
11.) Hideaway
12.) Too Far Gone
13.) Old Habits Die Hard
14.) The Blind Leading the Blind

No "Jagger Essentials" collection would do it for me without "Memo From Turner", "Too Many Cooks" and "Blue".

"Blue" I could see arguing for, but "Memo From Turner" and "Too Many Cooks" (classics though they are) do not belong to the solo era I was compiling that starts with the CBS deal and the launching of Jagger as a solo "brand." If it was just Mick outside the Stones, I'd argue for "Don't Look Back" as well.

Ah, I see, just a different approach. Otherwise, yeah, how could I forget "Don't Look Back"!

Let's Work and Charmed Life? Essentially awful. The rest of it... some good tunes on there.

Both extremely horrible ... along with those 2 England tunes he did about 3 years ago, don't recall their names.

I actually poked a pencil thru my eardrums because of listening to those songs.

England Lost was the better of the two. Maybe "more interesting" is a better way to say it. I found it entertaining and sonically modern, it's a bit funny and has some elements of humor in it that remind me of Too Much Bloodm but that's always been his problem - behind the curve. There's nothing exceptional on BRIDGES TO BABYLON because of the modern production - in fact, none of it is interesting, it all sounds whatever. The normal produced songs are more interesting.

England Lost is certainly not as stupid as Gotta Get A Grip.

I don't know any of the song titles from SuperLite.

you certainly must be familiar with the eponymous lead single?

Eponymous lead single - for what?

For me, anyway, this is "essential" Mick Jagger solo work:

Just Another Night
Lucky In Love
Secrets
Dancing In The Street
Ruthless People
Throwaway
Kow Tow
Peace For The Wicked
Catch As Catch Can
Sweet Thing
Don't Tear Me Up
Hang On To Me Tonight
Evening Gown
Put Me In The Trash
God Gave Me Everything
Blue
Visions Of Paradise
Lucky Day
Too Far Gone
Old Habits Die Hard
England Lost
