Rainey Street is fine if you are young and don't care about music. I don't find it all that much different than Dirty 6th, just maybe a bit calmer. Here is a list of the best music venues and BTW, Jimmie Vaughan is playing at C-Boy's, the sister club of The Continental Club right after The Stones are over.

C-Boy's Heart & Soul 2008 S Congress Ave
Continental Club 1315 S Congress Ave
Antone's 305 E 5th St
Broken Spoke 3201 S Lamar Blvd
Mohawk Austin 912 Red River St
The Far Out Lounge & Stage 8504 S Congress Ave
Carousel Lounge 1110 E 52nd St
Sam's Town Point 2115 Allred Dr,
Historic Scoot Inn 1308 E. 4th St
Sagebrush 5500 S Congress Ave
The Skylark Lounge 2039 Airport Blvd
Sahara Lounge 1413 Webberville Rd
Saxon Pub 1320 S Lamar Blvd
The White Horse 500 Comal St
Monks Jazz Club - Moves Around
Cactus Cafe 2247 Guadalupe St
Stay Gold 1910 E Cesar Chavez St
Elephant Room 315 Congress Ave
Parker Jazz Club 117 W 4th St Suite 107B

Does anyone have room for two fans to and from the Cota in your car so can share a ride?

Ideally after the show to go to the airport since it's on the way to downtown. My friend is flying after the show and I'm going to downtown, but you can drop me off at the airport if that's better for you.
For the ride to the show we are also interested, but from the show is more important. My email is visible.

Thank you.

Aerial view of stage and concert area:

(No way this set-up holds 120,000; guessing 60,000 give or take. Very reminiscent of Prague in 2019.)

Gold Circle area looks like an awesome vantage point; almost makes me wish I had bit the bullet and made the trip…

thumbs up Cool video.

Don't believe anyone ever expected 120k, that's just the listed capacity for the venue.
Perhaps as first planned, with several bands and a day long affair they may have been able to get close to 100k.
Now that its a standard show, perhaps 50k would be a realistic prediction.

Technically COTA never has listed capacity; they are cool with folks running with the 120,000 figure. Part of their smoke and mirrors…for example, they said they had 140,000 at the October F1 race when that figure was likely embellished by 5-10%.

Will be interesting to see what is reported next month when the box scores come out. The year Taylor Swift played in concert area on Sat night of race weekend there were reports of 80,000 in attendance. Might be a stretch but who knows?

We are in Silver which still looks far back. So is the lawn elevated? It must be to see past those stands and equipment at the back of Gold Circle. I'm bummed I bought Silver tix but there were no Gold tix available back when I purchased although there were Golds on sale yesterday.

Yes, concert area is on hillside. Stage is at lowest point. Hill rises gradually towards other side of track.

Based on position of 4 light towers, Silver looks roughly equivalent to Rear GA in the football stadium set-up. I’d guess those “Suzy-Q” seats behind Gold Circle don’t get in the way too much but can’t say for sure from an aerial view. Too bad Gold Circle weren’t available when you pulled the trigger…

Thanks! I almost bought a pair of Golds yesterday but not enough time to unload Silvers. We will have fun either way!

Definitely a Burl's Creek vibe minus floor seating.

I had to work late and haven’t left for Austin yet, so I can’t make the Drive By Truckers show tonight. I saw them on Wednesday and they played a 27 song, two hour and ten minute show that was one of the best shows I have seen them play. That being said, I have two free tickets for tonight’s show if anyone is interested. I don’t want them to go to waste.
