Austin, a city changing faster than Light:

Ain’t that the truth!…and sadly not for the better. One of the most charming characteristics of the city is all but dead. It used to be one of the friendliest cities I’d ever been too…and curiously of the US Military I’ve been to every continent, save Antarctica. Austin itself and especially near the University of Texas Campus, you could strike up a friendly conversation with anyone on the street. Seriously. I graduated from the University of Texas and recently had a friend who I served with come for a visit. We hadn’t seen each other in 30 years. We went to the University and other Austin attractions and I was mildly shocked how the city had changed.

There was no Lucky dip sale , but there's still the seating map of the amphitheater

I think it may have been a bit of a mess up.

Two thoughts:

1) they plan to sell seats in the theatre to watch the show on a big screen but have cocked it up.

2) The stones will play Nov 21st in the theatre (very unlikely given they don't play back to back). The only reason I type this is the FB event added on the Stones page is for the 21st in the theatre (NOT 20th which is show day - however ticketmaster has the new event at 20th Nov i.e. show day - which makes me think option 1 is going to happen.

GJB, the Facebook event date is Nov 21 because of time zones.

Does seem odd they "added" another "event" on TM. I first thought it had something to do with what happened in Houston.

Looks like a typical COTA/TM cluster to me.

(I assume COTA is constructing those bleachers on “superstage” area by now. Maybe someone in Austin can confirm…if so, the show won’t be moving to amphitheater.)

The regular Ticketmaster on sale page for this show looks the same and is still up.

There is no way that they are moving this show to the to amphitheater which only holds 14,000 people. How would they do the seating? I imagine that they sold more than 14,000 tix for this show plus tix are still on sale.

The shared, public information regarding this show is sorely lacking.

While initially stating a weekend full of activities (I was imagining a Ferris wheel, go-carts, side stages, food truck park, merchants), nothing has been communicated other than we get Ghost Hounds.

What amenities are there for those camping? My guess for this other listed date has to do with possibly trying to sell admission to the amphitheater to see another band perform on Friday night or watch football games on Sat/Sun. Something along those lines.

They are selling picnic baskets with little information. Camping has little to no info. The circuit of americas page hasn’t been updated other than when the May, 2020 was initially postponed.

LAX to Austin to FLL to LAX looks doable on a cheapskate's budget.

The only complications are accoommodations and ground transportation for Austin. And of course the FL ticket.

Not happy the only other decent show in the time frame is Patty Griffin - on Nov 20.

FYI, this venue is absolutely in the middle of nowhere. If you plan to get there and back using rideshare services or public transportation of any kind be prepared to experience an absolutely hellish situation. The only reliable way in and out of there is by your own car. And even that will be challenging. If you're flying in I Strongly recommend renting a vehicle. Unfortunately this problem is very common whenever there is a large event in or around Austin. Believe me, I've learned my lesson.

There will be shuttle/bus pickups in town.

Is there any more information on this?

Kind of a dead period here in LA so wondering if LAX -> AUS -> FLL is possible.

Unfortunately 200$ Lyft rides, 9 mile walks and renting a car isn't possible.

Drive By Truckers are playing the Scoot Inn in Austin on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th if anyone is in town a day or two early.
