So Bruno, the headstock would normally have been black right? Man I wish I still had that thing to learn it's history. I remember taking the pod cover off the back and it was 'pink' inside there, that may have just been the undercoat for the cherry red though. The yellow headstock and the unique bridge, (which has the letters 'LP' scratched on it's underside) spell something unusual. Whoever had it before the cowboy had played the shit out of it because the fretboard was worn out when I got it!

>> In 78, if I recall correct, he used the single-cut Special (for Beast Of Burden??) <<

yes he did, Bruno (right on the grid right on the grid!) - at least in Fort Worth, it was a TV-yellow single-cut Special,
which (if i'm following all this properly) must a pre-1958 model. sure sounded good too ...

meanwhile, back to the Juniors: Keith sure was getting a lot of mileage out of that sunburst single-cutaway Junior on the VL tour, wasn't he!
Monkey Man, It's All Over Now, Stop Breaking Down, Who Do You Love, SFTD and still counting. have some popcorn. :E

I found a couple shots of "Dice" from the current tour!

The first 2 are from Chicago - probably used for Out of Control?

--- both from September 10, 2005 by Jacob Cohl

This next one is from Albany NY at the Pepsi Arena - probably used for Midnight Rambler?

Look at the first two pictures in the first post of with sssoul in this topic. Keith seems to play the same riff exactly. Same concentration, similar body position, fingering..Two years apart. I like those coincidences. Greta pics!

For anyone who's interested, I watched Keith at Sheffield, Wembley & Brixton in '95, when he used the single cutaway yellow Les Paul (Special, I believe) for the following songs: Rocks Off, Live With Me, Black Limousine, Rip this Joint - that's all I can remember.

Further info.

Someone (thank you bobchill) on a very interesting Italian site dedicated to guitars (accordo.it) noted that in the earlyer pics you can see that K's guitars were equipped with non original bridge (badass) and tuners (grover), while his current Juniors/TV are all original.

Who customized the originals?

Keith also used the single cutaway ( Yellow ) for Gimme Shelter at the Paradiso 95. Best version ever. It seems Ronnie now has it?

>> It seems Ronnie now has it? <<

Ronnie's got that TV-yellow LP Special you see in one of those posts up there - is that what you're thinking of?
i have the impression that Ronnie plays Juniors about as often as Keith plays Specials - ie, hardly ever.

but meanwhile, we've all noticed that Keith's dusted off his TV-yellow single-cutaway LP Junior -
really makes me happy to see/hear it again! he was using it on Live With Me in the UK;
i believe that was the first time he's brought it out since 1995 - is that right?

he's clearly unleashed this fine instrument on other numbers than Live With Me during the recent North American shows -
it would be great to know what he's been using it for where. for example: what number(s) did he use it for at Dodgers Stadium?
since i don't have permission to repost them, here's a link to a shidoobee thread with a couple of photos of him with it in LA:
[p081.ezboard.com]

and of course i'd love to hear from anyone who saw/heard Keith with this fine instrument at other ABB shows,
especially if you've got photos to go with the recollections. and have some popcorn. :E

Richards with the Junior, Wood with a new Zemaitis, from Shidoobee:

I'm not even that familiar with the current setlist, but shoudn't that be "Gimme Shelter"? Are they doing that these days? For "Monkey Man" Ron would have the other Zemaitis, right?

On the official Zemaitis website there is a big shot of Ronnie pl;aying his new Zemaitis model. What a beautiful guitar.
Mathijs, I'm not sure but didn't Marc Bolan way back already play a Zemaitis?

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

here are some Zemaitis threads, Chelsea my dear:
[www.iorr.org] and [www.iorr.org]

that photo from LA that Mathijs posted (taken by KCryer) isn't Gimmie Shelter - they didn't play Gimmie Shelter in LA.
the photographer said it's cool for me to post the other shot she took of Keith with the Junior over here - it must be Sympathy:

- Dodgers Stadium, november 22nd 2006 by KCryer

so what else has Keith been using this Junior for on this tour, besides SFTD and Live With Me?
any recollections welcome!

Check out how incredibly new this guitar looks. Check out the tuning key buttons! If this wasn't Keith Richards I would have bet my money it is a new Custom shop model....

thank you Rich/WeSellGuitars for this look at the TV-yellow LP Juniors in Keith's Europe 07 guitar rack -
look, there are three of them: Dice has a stand-in :E

according to one of the lists we've been pondering on another thread - [www.iorr.org] -
that single-cutaway Junior is a 1955 model.

it turns up next in 89/90, 99 and 2002/03 -
does anyone know if Keith used it for any numbers other than Midnight Rambler on those tours? !

He also used this guitar with capo in 7th fret for Out Of Control on the B2B-tour

I'm posting this because I figure it may be of interest to some here: it's a Fretted Americana - yes I know, started a thread about them already - demonstartion of a CREAM 1961 Les Paul Junior. As usual, it's a great video and not a guitar I suspect many here are even aware of - I wasn't
