Does anyone know something about the "Get Your Ya Yas Out" DVD, which is announced by Amazon (17 Oct.)?

I think it's a "picture" DVD with music playing....

Most likely a documentary with no new footage.

A "making of"? From your listed tracks I count five songs which are not on the album, and four out of those five have nothing to do with the 1969 tour which generated the album...strange. Sounds nothing like a "making of", instead more like a "rip off"...

Would Taylor get some compensation for any of his work.

Yes he needs one with some financial background and looking out for his best
interes.

STICKY FINGER MOMENTS

We all know Taylor changed the sound of the stones
and contributed to the success of Sticky Fingers on
his first complete record with the stones. Now as the
current lineup plays on I would say Taylor still has
his swagger and SWAY today and BROWN SUGAR should only
be played if it is Taylor brand and would watch WILD
HORSES if Taylor was at the finish line. BITCH could
be best now described as those actions and how MT
was treated it used to be an high octane
rocker. Someday the lawyers will come and say YOU GOTTA MOVE or say
CYHMK on your door for the royalties. No this is not a
MOONLIGHT MILE away but someday your red roses will
turn to DEAD FLOWERS and you might sing I GOT THE
BLUES To Marian F who after sometime got song credit for
SISTER MORPHINE.

amazon.co.uk has a DVD rental deal now - maybe someone in the UK could rent it
and let us know whether there's anything cool in it?

I got it but haven't watched it yet. Looks like clips from Gimme Shelter, some promos and 'talking heads' discussing the album.

thanks GR!
when you do have a chance to watch it, it would be great to know whether the promos anything special - hard-to-find clips? better-than-usual quality? or ... ?

I hope it isn't another disc like "and we concluded to make a live album and Mick Jagger sings, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor play the guitars, and Bill Wyman bass and Charlie Watts drums", and we are the greatest band on earth". There are another soundboard live tapes of the tour 1969, e.g. "You gotta Move", "Prodigal Son" and "I'm Free" with a great solo of Mick Taylor. That's what I like, and not boring discussions concerning groupies, hair styles, clothes etc.

That Im Free solo is one great solo - taylor exploring the song over jaggers
vocals - kind of reminds me of a david gilmour type solo - searching the
universe for the perfect notes

I put it in the 'as and when' pile so it'll probably take me years to get around to it. It is not official product so it's unlikely to have any thing particularly interesting on it. The Mick Jagger DVD that came out a while ago was at 101CD for £6, save your money and this DVD will be at a lower price later (along with the two 2 DVD sets coming soon which is more rehashed footage and critics).

I was going to watch this last night. When I opened the case there is a list of the journos discussing the album and a list of the music, all clips from Gimme Shelter, Ready Steady Go and Ed Sullivan (including the Beatles). Seen it all already and don't need a critic to tell me about the album so I went to the pub instead.

<kind of reminds me of a david gilmour type solo - searching the

Interesting! I've always felt that there were similarities in the playing-styles of Gilmour and Taylor.

yes yes yes thats how I go about listening to music and trying to capture that
special solo and thinking and comparing it to other musicians that you are
exposed to.
