Gotta be "Honest Man" and even the next two are good i think "you got it made " -richards and that slow blues tune which I think grows on you after a while.
Jagger really gets into that song "honest man" and I hear Keith say that Jagger's voice is much stronger and I think on this track Jagger is on a real level of his own.
Great song and a shame it never got on the album. Don't know why maybe the lyrics didn't fit Jagger all that well in love.
if Jagger wouldve finished the lyrics..."im going down" wouldve been GREAT!!...even for the guitar riff/tone alone....."drift away" is great (even though a cover)...also like "highway child" (though it still needed work - coulda been GREAT!)

I'm Going Down is on an album, Leonard (unless maybe you don't count Metamorphosis as an album?) Highway Child has always appealed to me - but there are so many! Claudine. Crisscross Mind. How Do You Do Africa. You're Too Much. all of the above.

Everything the lady and you guys so far have mentioned along with ...Petrol Gang...Some Of Us Are On Our Knees...Spare Parts...You Should Have Seen Her Arse...Your Too Much...You Win Again...
Aren't these rarities bootlegs??.. Probably yes and therefore we have as I see it no real legal right to these copies. People moan about the stones and Jagger's greed but what the @#$%& gents and ladies. Its their show and let them play it. If you want that kind of money become a rock star or pro footballer.
We are so quick to moan and it really gets to me about the hyper-critical shit that people write about being ripped off. We are quick to buy illegal black market stock for not much less than the retail stores selling authorised gear and when we are unhappy we moan about what they give.
It just does not make any sense ...whoever critisises the stones to the enth degree please try and be a bit more broad-minded about who and what is right and wrong..unless of course our getting our hands on the bootlegs is authorised by the stones
Yellow Cab Drift AWay Claudine Lonely at the Top Andrew's Blues (for its fun lyrics, anyway)
come to mind
ask me tomorrow and i will have five different answers!
Anyone know the story behind leather jacket? How did Mick Taylor come to the lyrics? It seems to be about Mick Jagger at times, so i am guessing Mick T took the music when he left and wrote his own lyrics later.

Would've been a whole career for some other band, if they made 3 or 4 records out of them.
Genuine question to those of you who call so many of these songs 'great'
Had they been actually released on the albums they were recorded for and in the versions that you've heard them, do you think you'd be so keen on them?
Most of the songs listed arent even finished. many showed some promise but so many of them are little more than rough demos with a guide vocal. They could just as easily have ended up awful had they been worked on more as opposed to being good.
IMO a lot of the appeal of these songs is simply BECAUSE they're "forbidden fruit". Most of them are outtakes for a very good reason - ie, the songs they ended up releasing instead were far superior. Had most of them been released, we'd probably be discussing them in a "worst Stones songs ever" thread. The vast majority of whats available are curios...and little more than that.
There's some genuinely good songs there by anyone's standards - my personal choice as their best unreleased track is their cover of "Still A Fool" from 1968 - but for the most part the Stones (to their credit) unlike some other artists who have been around for many years and recorded lots of songs, have exercised pretty good judgement on deciding what was worthy of release and what wasnt.
Of course, we've only heard the tip of the iceberg. Maybe theres a finished version of "Do You Think I Really Care" in the vaults that doesnt have Mick calling out the chord changes in the (excellent) outtake that we're familiar with. Likewise with so many other songs that only circulate in "run-through" format...and of course theres bound to be hundreds of alternate takes of the songs we all know and love that could well have been releasable (Can you imagine getting to hear all the rest of the alternate takes of Jumpin Jack Flash?) - however we cant really pass judgement on what we havent heard, but its most likely that the BEST of the band's unreleased material over a 43 year career IS indeed stuff that still eludes us
