Sat.1 präsentiert heute das Konzert "Rolling Stones - Live: A Bigger Bang".

Die Bedeutung der Rolling Stones für die Geschichte des Rock'n'Roll kann gar nicht hoch genug geschätzt werden. Hatte die 1962 in London gegründete Band schon zu Beginn das perfekte Destillat populärmusikalischer Gegebenheiten geschaffen, befruchteten sie im Verlauf ihrer Karriere etliche musikalische Strömungen und beeinflussten Generationen von Künstlern. "Beggars Banquet" (1968), "Let It Bleed" (1969), "Sticky Fingers" (1971) und "Exile On Main Street" (1972) tauchen nach wie vor in den Hitlisten auf. Allesamt wurden diese Alben mit dem amerikanischen Produzenten Jimmy Miller eingespielt - "an incredible rhythm-man", wie Richards ihn knapp beschreibt. Nun sind fast 20 Jahre vergangen, und die Bühnenshows der Stones haben nichts an Faszination verloren. Seit 1989 sind sie regelmäßig alle paar Jahre auf Tour gegangen, und die Fans reagieren jedes Mal neu verzückt. 1994 verpflichteten die Stones als Ersatz für Bill Wyman den Bassisten Darryl Jones, der vorher bei Miles Davis gespielt hatte. Der Personalwechsel erwies sich als willkommene Verjüngungskur und brachte neue Energie. Die Konzerterfolge bemessen sich in diesen Jahren nicht an Einnahme- und Zuschauerrekorden, obwohl die Zahlen schon beeindruckend sind. Es ging eher darum, zu beweisen, dass die Gruppe nach wie vor eine bis in die Haarspitzen vitale Live-Band ist und dass es ihrer Meinung nach genau das ist, was eine Band zusammenhält: It's only rock'n'roll but I like it. Am 5.9.2005 war es nun endlich so weit: "A Bigger Bang", das heiß erwartete neue Album der Rolling Stones, erschien mit 16 neuen Songs. Ihre Welt-Tournee, die ebenfalls den Titel "A Bigger Bang" trägt, starteten die Rolling Stones am 21.8.2005 in Boston.

well if it is, I will tape it directly on my DVD recorder.

Hmmmhhhhh...can`t believe that they bring a show from ABB.
But after all it is 100 minutes long....maybe they show some kind of docu-backstage staff with interviews, 2-3 songs from fenway....and finally they show about an hour of the Babylon Bremen 98 show...which was aired from Sat1 in germany.
But let`s hope for the real BANG stuff.

I sense a widespread feeling of anti-climax on "Tell Me" in the early hours of 1st November....

The Sat1 Music Special is always a concert without any intermissions in between like interviews, other footage. Plain concert. So I'm really excited :-)

It could be the other way round - hopefully not.
but remember the moaning when the Phoenix gig didn't get broadcasted

If it was an exclusive concert, wouldnt it be more likely to be shown on one of the network channels in Germany like ARD, ZDF or even as a pay per view on Premiere?

I cant see the Stones just 'giving away' an exclusive broadcast of a new concert to a German free to air satellite station when they could make a shitload of money selling to PPV (as they did with Bremen'98) and also selling the rights to similar channels in other countries

I saw Bremen '98 through SAT1 sponsored by Radeberger (Beer) - very much appreciated.

Not likely to bee seen on these f'ed up channels, not even (ppv) Premiere.

I remember seeing an edited rerun of Bremen on SAT-1 just over two weeks later, but as I recall, the show was broadcast live in Germany only on Pay Per View.

The British Isles were the only parts of Europe and North and West Africa who DIDNT get this show broadcast live. On satellite TV here, we can pick up all of the German free to air network channels plus most of the free Astra satellite channels (RTL, Sat 1, 3Sat etc) and it WASNT shown live on any of them...nor was it shown on any 'free' TV channel that could be picked up in the UK. I taped the live audio feed of the show from Premiere as far as I remember (picture was scrambled, but the audio was fine)

I also taped the ARD "Rocklife" Winos special from Cologne in '92 (I think it was shown, not live, but later the same night. Great show!)

I've only had cable - no satelite or pay per view ever since.
I recorded it from sat 1 on vhs-tape, hope it still works, i'll check it.
and yes, I think there was a different version 2 weeks later - but I must get that old thing working.

does any1 no if there is a Full Show perfect quality & Sound Brennen 98 dvd ,,,i hav 2 different full show dvds but the quality & sound r not 2 good,,,i got jointtrips which is great but thats edited

I recorded the SAT-1 broadcast too. Date on my tape is 19th September. The show was 2nd September. Its about 90 minutes of music.
