Don't take it for granted, it's not confirmed or anything. But it seems that two Austrians talked to the crew in the US and they were told about that!
If that's true - there'll be a big party at my place for all fans!
(well at least all of them that fit in my appartement)

You know there is a log of when all changes on the tour dates pages happens:

[iorr.org]

Sep 3: Vienna Austria and Rome Italy added.

So it was added on sept. 3... i.e. some time ago.

Ok, thanks. I thought you recently added the day (19th)

3 shows in Austria ? I don't think so ! If that's really true than that would be more than awesome. But where should these three shows happen ? 3 stadium shows ? never! One in Vienna in the stadium, or two in the Stadthalle in Vienna ? But what about show no.3 ? From my point of view, we're just getting one show and it will be again in the ERnst Happel Stadium

One in the Opera!

Re: BV, Vienna june 19th

No. I don't think they will do 3 shows in Austria. But having said that, they have played some mighty strange places there over the years, and it is a spread out country indeed, so if the promotors have balls and some good cash I think it should be possible. They had lots and lots of people in Imst. If they don't go to North Italy then Austria will be the place for Italians from the north. They played Zeltweg the formula one track close to Graz. And they will of course play Ernst Happel Stadium Vienna. So if they book different parts of the country it might be possible, but not probable. What I do think the case is they are bidding for a show and one of them will get it. Like in oslo norway they have been bidding from Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim but they won't do 3 shows. One will get it the one with the biggest balls i.e. the one that is taking the risk and making the show possible.

Yes Bjornulf you're probably right. In Austria they played in lots of places over the last years. Still I think they'll just do one show and that will be in Vienna. The opera would be a dream but I seriously doubt that, as I don't think they'll do many small shows in Europe.

But let's wait and see and maybe we'll all be positively surprised

Actually this is not true. I don't remember how many people attended the Imst show but I know after the show it was everywhere in the news that the concert promoter went bankrupt because not even half as many people came as he had hoped for. Positive comments are appreciated Bjornulf, but only if they are true smiling smiley
Zeltweg however was the biggest concert Austria has ever seen (though some say Pink Floyd had more people there...)

Actually that's not true about Imst, Chris!
They limited the concert to 50.000 people and that's exactly how many showed up!

Imst wasn't really packed. You could walk whereever you would on the field. There was plenty of space. If there were 20.000 that would be much.

Well there are two things I hate. People who complain and people who tell me I am wrong when I am for sure right. Of course I am right about the fact that the Stones played Imst. I was there. Why do you tell such nonsense? And if you bothered to check the IORR web site you would see the exact official reports of the crowds here:

It is all linked up directly from the main IORR page (right side):

Aug 1 1995 Osterreich Ring, Zeltweg, Austria 86,000
Jul 11 1998 Flughafen Wiener Neustadt, Austria 57,200
May 31 1999 Festival Site, Imst, Austria 47,400
Jun 18 2003 Ernst Happel Stadium Vienna Austria 55,000

First three shows official audit numbers given out my Mr. Cohl himself.
The last one for 2003 is my own estimate. I was at all these 4 shows
and I will tell you these numbers are correct within a normal margin.

Imst was close to 50,000 people which is a lot more than
many shows in USA this tour like Boston, Hershey (approx 30,000).
So if there are promoters in Austria that have balls and brains
then I see no problem they can book more than one show,
as the country is spread out, east west etc, like Norway.
But I never said I know about these 3 bookings.
What I say is the Stones have played these major shows.
And I don't really care if a promoter went bankrupt.
If he did it was not because of the 47,000 people who came,
but may be because he did not manage his money correctly.

PS. And saying it was 20,000 in Imst must be pure imagination.
That is close to the number of people who came to watch Zucchero
from Italy only. See the IORR Imst 1999 show report : [iorr.org]

So what is not true in what I say Chris?

bv: You should never devote yourself to hatred, becuase that's not very constructive and only people who are dissatisfied and miserable would do it.
If you have conflicting views, do not confront people with them, just walk away and be happy. In that case no one will get hurt and you could both be declared winners. People ought to turn the other cheek when situations like this occur.
Life is too short for bitchin' about the size of venues and how many gigs will happen. Don't worry - be happy.
Best wishes.

First off, leave BV alone he shows a dedication and knowledge that many so called 'fans' on this site aren't worthy of calling themselves such.

Secondly about Imst. It was run locally and there were a lot of people getting in free who were friends and family. I turned up about 10 that day and walked in the field from behind the stage. Early afternoon JC asked local security to clear the field because there were so many people in there. Myself and about 10 others hid behind a food stand. I got front row and then the rain came down...

Any way too many people got in for free so perhaps thats where they lost money.

Ok it is a way of speaking. I don't hate anybody. But I don't like misinformation. So I have to put the record straight. What is important here is not me or anybody else. What is important is that there were 50,000 people at the Imst show. Even if you asked my dog, he would probably agree it was 10,000 or whatever. But he woulød say anything for food. These numbers are not made up. They are based on hard work and experience.

LOL!!!
I somehow recognize this particular kind of illogical reasoning.

Well, three gigs in Austria seem unlikely to me. Two maybe, but they shoud be spread at width of the country, so to say. That would meen Vienna, or around Vienna, and Imst/Innsbruck. I was in Imst '99, and that's really pretty country side... Insbruck is really beautiful, with all those mountains...

Had plans to go to Ernest Happel gig in '03, but after Arena sopener in Munchen, and secnod row there, stadium gig would be a downgrade... So I said, if this is the last time, I wanna remember it as I saw it in Munchen...

"--- 78 square meters, 30-40 people are ok with me!)
(Lorenz, on his flat).

Hey, good Lorenz, what kind o´ strange countin is that?
In my good ol days a party with 30-40 persons was in flats at 20-25 square meters. Or smaller.

78 m2 would do for 50-70 people.

If there´s a little more than one m2 for each person its optimal;
then you can droop out whenever you feel like it.
Two people can lie upon each other.

Once I had 35 people sleepin in my parents 'basement living room'.
It was by then about 18-20 m2. Ok; they had a little tight night.
Sleep tight, you know... grinning smiley

Ok, Peter, good point...
Well, then - everyone can come, but as soon as the police shows up (had that already) you all have to leave - or pay the penalty for me smiling smiley And calm down my neighbours!

P.S. Bjornulf is right about Imst.

If I were you, Lorenz; I´d take the party-invite back...
Another way of doin it is saying: "Hey, let´s have a party in
X-town.... " (some 300 or 750 km from your home... ) grinning smiley

When I think it over, my memory tells me that that very
party I think with the 40 people in the 23 m2...
The police did come pretty often to that pad... grinning smiley grinning smiley grinning smiley
Well, well, well...

Yep you caught me Bjornulf, I do everything for food, just like your dog.
I only live in Austria so why should I know anything!? It was in the news couple of weeks after the show (I personally thought there were tons of people too) and the concert promoter was interviewed and so on...maybe it was misinformation, maybe I dreamed it...whatever.. Im @#$%& leaving....to be compared to your dog and being hated by you...that's a bit more than i can take personally LOL....
