Gazza has probably already answered, but here's what I know:

They also played there in [31?] May, 1982. Not sure about audio of that show....for the Stu tribute 23 Feb 1986, I'm 100% certain nothing circulates. (I'd bet the Stones recorded it!)

I'd have to search back through Nico Zentgraph's and/or Bill Wyman's books to see if the boys played there prior to 1982. I don't think the club is that old. Perhaps it had a differen't name before "100 Club"? If they did play there before 1982, it would have been between 1962-1964.

they also played the 100 Club on 31st May 1982 as a warm up for the European tour, in front of about 350 people, mostly family and friends

No recording has ever circulated of that show either

Regarding the 1986 show - (23rd February, not the 28th) apparently every show since the early 70s has been recorded by the band's crew. Except this one. They were specifically instructed not to.

And, as you will no doubt notice from the setlist - they didnt play a single original composition, all covers - even their soon to be released single, "Harlem Shuffle"

to answer your query - no, 1982 and 1986 were the only times they played the club

According to the club website, it's pretty old as clubs go:

The 100 Club has been promoting live music on the same premises since 1942. Originally a restaurant called Mack's, live music was first played here when British jazz drummer Victor Feldman's father hired the venue on a regular Sunday night to showcase the talents of his jazz loving sons and their band. The band consisted of Victor, also known as 'kid Krupa' because of his style of playing, and his two brothers Robert (clarinet) and Monty (accordion). They were joined by legendary British jazz man Jimmy Skidmore (tenor sax) for the opening night on 24th October 1942.

Cheers

This is from Nico's great site. FYI-date was billed as 30 May 1982, but I think band took satge after midnight on 31 May 1982:

"820530B 30th May: London, 100 Club. Same set as usual, incl.
- Chantilly Lace (J.P. Richardson) -unverified
Note: The Stones were billed as ‘Diz And The Doormen’. "

I know nothing except where google is.

Gazza's the man who knows too much. Or is that Jimmy Stewart?

I think Nico is incorrect on this (rare) occasion. I distinctly remember that show taking place. My birthday is 30th May and I'd have remembered had it taken place the same day..lol. It was on the evening of the 31st.

Maybe its just a typo on Nico's part. Every other account of this show I've ever seen lists it as the 31st.

I was at the venue two years ago when Mick Taylor played there the night between the Stones' Astoria and Wembley Arena shows. Its a very jazz-orientated place, going by the posters and memorabilia all over the club (I bought a cool t-shirt, and the logo is a trumpet, so they're still evidently very much steeped in their jazz tradition)

Of course, in later years it also became associated with the fledgling punk scene in the mid 70's with the Sex Pistols and other acts playing it.

Its actually not an ideal venue for rock music. Very low stage (floor level) and lots of pillars. probably works better if everyone is seated, however - so more suited to jazz I guess

here's a pic of a few misfits from Rocks Off after the Taylor show. I'm at the front with the blue and white shirt. The guy beside me in the red shirt who is wishing he was somewhere else is Bjornulf

There was definitely a tape in circulation of the 100 Club show from 1982. I saw it at a Record Fair but did not buy it because it was the standard 1982 set list. I think I may have a brief review of this show somewhere.

Re: Stones at the "100 Club"

Hearing is believing

I wouldnt doubt that there may have been one 'advertised' as being from that show (I remember back in the mid 80's a tape being 'rumoured', as there was with Aberdeen - which turned out to be a fake) but that doesnt mean it actually came from that show

If someone was publicly selling a bona fide tape of that show at a record fair, its absolutely inconceivable that a copy of it would not have been widely circulated by now...

Good point, Gazza. I only read the covers to see the tracklist but it could well have been a fake.

And the guy on the far left side half cut off is my Hungarian friend Thomas Horvath living in Munich. With a great Keith-inspired dressing style. Nice picture! I never knew it existed! Never get to make any photos myself, so it is nice to know where I have been...

I remember seing and meeting Ian Steewart at 100s Club early 80's. He played there with his own band Rocket 88 and he was a very nice guy to meet.
