I noticed that the stones recorded the basic tracks for each album from Some Girls to Dirty Work at Pathé Marconi in Paris. Have they said why they favored it? Anyone been there?

Thanks,
cc

I'm not absolutely sure but I think Mick had a flat in Paris at that time.
I don't know if he was the owner or if it was a friend's one.

i've read that there was a room at Pathé Marconi that the Stones loved the sound of -
apparently it was originally a storage area or something; it was destroyed when the studios were renovated.
i've also read that Keith owned a flat in Paris in this timeframe, but couldn't remember where it was. :E

You don't record several albums only in fact you own a flat in the same town. The pathe marconi recording studio was the real reason. It was their second home. A kind of new Olympic studios for them. Now the studio was destroyed and there is a building with parking instead.
Keith flat is 200 meters of the Ritz Hotel in Paris.

It was my understanding that the studio was also very very small. Does anyone know what arrondissement or district of Paris the Studio was in and when the studio was torn down?

Pathe-Marconi Studios was out in the suburbs in Boulogne-Billancourt - if you know Paris, it's out in the west of the city, near Parc des Princes and the Roland Garros tennis stadium

The studio was still there in 1990, because I remember taking photos of it en route to the Stones' gig at the Parc des Princes that night!

Gazza are you sure b/c I seem to remember that there was EMI's Boulogne-Billancourt and there was also EMI's Pathe Marconi studios.

I've never heard of a studio called "Boulogne-Billancourt", fuzzbingz - although as I dont live in France or pay much attention to these things, I'm not saying you're wrong either

But the Pathe Marconi Studios I went to were definitely in that suburb.

Pathe Marconi is the name of the studio and Boulogne Billancourt the place, south west of Paris, after the Porte d'Auteuil (Stones show in 1982) you leave Paris to enter Boulogne.
Saw the Stones there once in 1985, Mick driving a brown Jaguar and Keith a ferrari.
Keith got his flat rue St Honoré.
The Stones used to meet in a restaurant, rue du Berri near les Champs Elysées in front of the Warwick hotel and then drive to Boulogne.
The evening i saw them someone warned us (10 people) that Mick was in a bad mood because he didn't eat at the restaurant just drank a coffee.
Mick wore kind of slipper not real (outside) shoes.
He signed only once while Ron and Keith signed many items including my "Stone alone" bootleg.
I didn't see Charlie arriving but i saw him later inside hanging a telephone.

They used a storage room to record in as Keith liked the acoustics of it. The studio has since been razed, that's why they don't use it anymore.

the restaurant they used to go is
le val d isere.
rue de berry.
it is still there but looks really old.
in the back you have a picture of all of them signed on the wall.
They used to go very often.
that was in 77/78;
keith still owns a place in paris.
in the opera area.
not far from plaCe Vendome.
mick used to go to the plazza.
and he still owns a flat .

is that restaurant opposite the Hotel Warwick? A lot of the band's crew often stayed there when the Stones were playing Paris (as well as the George V, of course). I met Bobby Keys there in 1995.

I remember the Val d'Isere still being there a few years ago but when I was in Paris in June of this year it was now an African restaurant under a different name

Keith's apartment, as far as I know, is in the Fauborg St-honore, which is, as you say, near the Place Vendome.

i think the val d isere is just after the kind of look african restaurant.
correct , it is right in front of the warwick hotel.
the crew stayed there in 95.

and beleive me this is true story:

in 95 two crew members were selling for a very cheap price, i cant remimber
50 or 80 usd ticket for the olympia.
they wanted to get paid only in usd.

so i heard about the rumour and go to the hotel thinking how stupid i am
to beleive this bulls.
anyway i still go and once i get there i see people going out with tickets.

had to ruch to change the francs into usd.(no euros in thoses days)
and left the place with two tickets.

that s my souvenir about the warwick hotel
