I loved those silly movies she was in like That Touch of Mink with Cary Grant and others. She had such a sweet likeable manner. Classy lady. May she rest in peace.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Que Sera Sera 1956

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty will I be rich
Here's what she said to me

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother what will I be
Will I be handsome will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be
Que Sera Sera

From the Alfred Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much" starring Doris Day and James Stewart in 1956. Song was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.

RIP Doris Day.

Here's Doris at a Madonna gig. She wasn't really a fan, but was very polite.

Doris Day - Till The End Of Time
[www.youtube.com]

This is actually a very nice arrangement.
and the pictorial tribute is kind of sweet.
Bless her for standing up for the critters
and singing songs a lot of our parents who were born
in the 1920's grew up cuddling to in the 40's...

Wow what a song I did not realize how deep the lyrics were. I entirely forgot about the song, Very Nice RIP - What a sweetheart.

Stones connection in that Jack Nitzsche also produced Move Over Darling, as well as arranging some of the 60s era Stones material, and Performance soundtrack.

I love her version of Que Sera, Sera, and the Man Who Knew Too Much as a film. Calamity Jane was a bit too camp for me though.

However, my first hearing of Que Sera was by Sly & The Family Stone. I've always wondered what Doris thought of that cover version.

Doris Day was an icon from the Golden Age of films and music.
I loved her films and songs which I still watch and listen in this day and age.

R.I.P. Doris Day

RIP Doris Day.
Amazing to consider that a woman who worked with Alfred Hitchcock and Jimmy Stewart in the 1950s JUST passed away. What an incredible life.

Melcher also co- wrote 'Kokomo' with John Phillips and others.
So, another somewhat indirect Stones connection.

I guess his Mother became more interested in animal welfare rather than continuing in films to the bitter end. Shades of Bridgette Bardot also.
I admire people like that, who develop another life and interest, rather than prolonging a career for the sake of it.

Doris Day may have been a special case, but it was (and still is) quite notoriously difficult for a lot of older actresses to find work in Hollywood, particularly ones known for their beauty in their youth.

A lot of them from that era just quit the business when they hit their 40s/50s.

Yes, you are quite right. Though the UK may treat older women better than Holywood. Quite a few stars (Maggie Smith Judy Dench to name but two)are never out of work.
Re my other remark: I overlooked the fact of course that both the two film stars had made a lot of dosh, so could afford to retire a d do their own thing.
But then there are tons of rock stars sho could do the same...but seemingly cannot.

Yes, and he also produced The Byrds.

And indirectly involved in the dark side. In 1969, Terry needed a lift back to his Cielo Drive home in the Hollywood Hills and Dennis Wilson obliged. And we all know who else was in the back seat taking in the scenery as they made their way up the winding roads...

and Paul Revere and the Raiders. He co-wrote a bunch of their hits with Mark Lindsay, as well as all songs on their 1967 Revolution! album. They were an underrated team.
