I loved those silly movies she was in like That Touch of Mink with Cary Grant and others. She had such a sweet likeable manner. Classy lady. May she rest in peace.

Wow what a song I did not realize how deep the lyrics were. I entirely forgot about the song, Very Nice RIP - What a sweetheart.

Stones connection in that Jack Nitzsche also produced Move Over Darling, as well as arranging some of the 60s era Stones material, and Performance soundtrack.

I love her version of Que Sera, Sera, and the Man Who Knew Too Much as a film. Calamity Jane was a bit too camp for me though.

However, my first hearing of Que Sera was by Sly & The Family Stone. I've always wondered what Doris thought of that cover version.

I admire people like that, who develop another life and interest, rather than prolonging a career for the sake of it.

Yes, you are quite right. Though the UK may treat older women better than Holywood. Quite a few stars (Maggie Smith Judy Dench to name but two)are never out of work.
Re my other remark: I overlooked the fact of course that both the two film stars had made a lot of dosh, so could afford to retire a d do their own thing.
But then there are tons of rock stars sho could do the same...but seemingly cannot.

and Paul Revere and the Raiders. He co-wrote a bunch of their hits with Mark Lindsay, as well as all songs on their 1967 Revolution! album. They were an underrated team.
