OT: cheap hotel in London

Hi guys!
Sorry for being off topic but I could need some help!

I'm going to visit my girlfriend in London for a few days next week and I have to find a cheap hotel for both of us (double room).
I searched a lot of internet sites but I thought someone can recommend a hotel - if possible it should be in the north of the city, within Zone 2 of public transport.
It can be very basic, don't need any comfort, as my budget is really limited, unfortunately! Or perhaps you know a good internet website?

Thanks for your help!

www.travelodge.co.uk

they have numerous hotels around London, i'm sure u can find one that's suitable

or if u can make do without a private bathroom. you can't get a better location (right on piccadilly circus!) than the regent palace

www.regentpalacehotel.co.uk

good luck!

Hi Andy!

Thank's for your help, yeah I can do without a privat bathroom and I checked the Regent Palace Hotel already, but the user reviews for it were all horrible!
I found a nice bed and breakfast hotel in the north of London now and think that'll do it.

Try doing a search for hotels in the Earls Court area of London. This part of town has a lot of hotels that have been made out of once up on a time large Victorian houses, and although they are "cheap and cheerful" - they're not quite as shitty as those that you find around train stations - notably KINGS CROSS, PADDINGTON and VICTORIA. Earls Court is probably Zone 2 on the tube, either 2 or 3 that's for sure. Quite a nice buzzy part of West London.

The Langorf Hotel in Hampstead. Five minutes from Finchley Road tube station. Definitely in a nice neighbourhood and minutes from The Spaniard's Inn!!!

Merely bein in London for a handful of times 1984-91, I think following
advice still may be valid:

Do not stroll around piss drunk in Bayswater area in the middle of the night.
- No; we didnt got robbed, that time we scared the sh*t out of the crooks.

(dont take leaks behind Amsterdams Central station either,
or walk naƮvely in the peripherical parts of Florens
or try to explore Red Light District in A-dam or the dead
end streets in farther parts of Nevskij Prospekt, St. Petersburg... )

At the Spaniard's Inn you'll probably meet Liam Gallagher. If they are not touring.

What better reason could you have in that case for avoiding the place like the plague ?

I'm over in Atlanta from England for the show so can't dig into phone book etc...but The Morgan (near Bloomsbury) is an inexpensive family run hotel. I shove my relatives in there.

what's wrong with the Regents Palace ?

i've stayed there loads of times. never had a problem yet

its a budget hotel in a 'to die for location'

granted the rooms are basic, but you get what u pay for. shared bathrooms leave something to be desired but that's to be expected i guess

and the bar stays open late yawning smiley)
