01. '78 at the Roxy - Brown Eyed Girl
[www.youtube.com]

a fascinating curation job by this dedicated Van fan...brb...
The 2nd number is what's playing now.
oh, Into The Mystic; i'm down to The Bottom Line stuff now.
just wonderful amazing fund; it's like amazing for a Van fan to find
tapes like these. That snare and kit are just perfect in your face.

these are all club shows! big clubs, maybe smallish audiotoriums.
!
Some of the Too Late To Stop LP's best cuts were from Santa Monica Civic Auditorium; as well all know from the Stones show with James Brown,
is Not a big place....it's revelatory in it's great beauty and expertise to me; these players are so good; they all seem so young to me now but they are
all older than me. Such beauty and accomplishment and unity.
I was sad when this crew stopped working together, tho Van is ALWAYS formidable, imo

Lord, the guitar, the little bits of scat; the live female chorale
arranged and interacting beautifully. imo, this is the master at his peak.
the scatting is smooth; sometimes in the big film things he's a little
over-dramatic; or just having fun trying to get off with it....
but here it's intimate and natural; he goes in and out when it feels right.
ahhh, great.

I'd say this is as good as Too Late To Stop double Live LP,
one of my all time absolute favorites decade after decade.
I never thought I'd find anything he did, or most anybody else,
better than That one live.
this is superb find curated by a resourceful, generous and real fan...

The track listing that follows Brown Eyed Girl here is truly a remarkable gift, imo.
this is the real deal with the real guy imo

In this very last minute of July 4th 2019 on the West Coast USA, here's:
Johnny Horton - Battle of New Orleans - (with Lyrics)

"The Battle of New Orleans" is a song written by Jimmy Driftwood. The song describes the Battle of New Orleans from the perspective of an American soldier; the song tells the tale of the battle with a light tone and provides a rather comical version of what actually happened at the battle. It has been recorded by many artists, but the singer most often associated with this song is Johnny Horton. His version scored number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959 (see 1959 in music). Billboard ranked it as the No. 1 song for 1959, it was very popular with teenagers in the late 50s/early 60s in an era mostly dominated by rock and roll music.

In Billboard magazine's rankings of the top songs in the first 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "The Battle of New Orleans" was ranked as the 28th song overall[1] and the number-one country music song to appear on the chart.[2]

Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.[3]

Live With Me (Live At The Roundhouse / 1971)

This is tremendous, thank you! What a gift.
I'm hearing this for the first time and loving it.
I didn't know about these extra tracks, so much stuff comes out and I get distracted!! plus i'm old. whoa. not after hearing this.
keith, after the solo Mick's on fire, that old cliche, sure, but this is the real deal.
The piano kicking it off is so excellent; the guitars and bass growl,
aww, this is wonderful, ty.

oh my goodness Keith getting in some licks at the end. DELICIOUS.

so i moved on to HTW, also at The Roundhouse.
whoa. is Taylor on the SG or the Les Paul here?
It's hard to say from the various pictures accompanying the htw vid.

Just arrived back in SoCal late last night after an amazing Chicago adventure, and while our plane was descending over L.A. with a view of all the lights and landmarks (L.A. Forum, etc),
this tune popped in my head just as it always does when coming back home after a journey.

The Doors - L.A. Woman

After driving up and down the freeways for an hour or so around midnight and finally arriving home, was greeted by news of massive earthquakes rocking the area...it's always great to be back home! smiling smiley

I was 10 and wouldn't hear this till real recently cause an ace poster here
linked it on a thread not so long ago.
The rock and roll record buying fever had already hit me.
Dion's Runaround Sue hit Number 1. He was the only white guy on that record;
well, the Del Satins BG singers too,
but those studio cats were ace rhythm
kings and that's what I was listening to on AM radio as these teenage
Stones were doing this...come the next summer, that first club gig.
and in the meanwhile, if I've got their history straight,
the amazing catalyst, young blues historian
and sweetly gifted natural musician, Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones
would start placing adverts for players.
