from previous sessions?

The concept of outtakes isn't right here. Many songs were recorded on previous sessions, that right, but they are new arranged on "Tatoo You". E.g. "Start me Up" was a reggae song earlier. The only song I know, which is brand new, is "Neighbours".

'Heaven' was recorded in late 1980 and is a new song


a lot of the released versions do date from earlier sessions but merely had vocals and instruments added - which is why Mick Taylor and Wayne Perkins are playing on the album

Heaven?

Start Me up was a sort of reggae song indeed. But the version recorded for the Emotional Rescue album is the one they used for Tattoo You. So technically speaking it's an ER outtake.

Same with Black Limousine, Hang Fire, No Use In Crying and Little T & A. All Emotional Rescue outtakes.

They used the finished backing tracks of Tops and Waiting On A Friend from 1973, so including Mick Taylor. They only added the vocals. The final mix for Tops was done during the sessions for Emotional Rescue.

The final mix for Waiting On A Friend was done in NY in 1981.
Same for Slave and Worried About You (both outtakes from Black and Blue).

So the only tracks left wich aren't outtakes are Neighbors and Heaven.

Didn't know they recorded Neighbors already during the Bahamas sessions?

Neighbours is a speeded up take of Send It To Me.

wow..I'd already corrected my post before you quoted me

the circulating outtake was originally believed to have come from that session when it was first bootlegged. However, it now appears it was from late 1980

So thanks to you all. Tonight I'll go to bed very happy, because I've learned my daily thing about the Stones.

I thought "Heaven" was an outtake from B&B.
