Free CD at concert

I think the Stones should do what Prince did with his last CD - give it away to everyone who buys a ticket to the concert. It worked great for Prince (Yes I went to his concert) because it exposed many more people to the CD and its word of mouth that keeps records selling. It also kept his CD in the top 40 for several months.

Or in the very least, at least a sampler.

This band is so clueless with marketing that they won't even try to sell us this stuff when we go to a concert. Talk about making easy money... Good idea, but don't hold you breath.

====This band is so clueless with marketing ====

Tis a shame. The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band is being mis-managed in its marketing...which is the most important business operation in any Rock or Pop musical act.

ABB's missed oportunities should be studied as marketing failures in Business school classes. Its like they haven't adjusted to the new ways of the millenium to market music. Some of the stuff they are doing now may have worked 20 years ago, but definitely not today.

Moby (of all people) made it possible to buy the show on cd 20 minutes after the concert! If he can, why not the Stones??!!

Most people who will go to the shows will buy the new CD anyway. They want you to spend extra money on a shirt or program or whatever they are selling these days.

If they really want to sell CD's they should offer something different, like live CD's, like Pearl Jam did.

They won't sell ABB at the shows because retailers get pissed and remove their stuff from the racks. HMV US did this when 4 Flicks was only sold by one retailer for the first few months. Also they don't need to carry extra stock from show to show, the stuff is in the CD shops, if people want it they know this.

Giving away the CD is stupid. Prince's CD probably sucked, and he knew he wouldn't sell allot if he just put it out in the stores.
