I too think this track is one of their better recent efforts.

Awful, awful, awful (in my humble opinion).

Definitely. Blinded By Rainbows is underrated. Got a little airplay in the States but not much. A classic, I think.

I always like that song. It's also fun to sing it by yourself!

Can't stand that one. Sappy tune, terrible lyrics. "Did you ever feel the blast
As the semtex bomb goes off?" Uh, no, or I wouldn't be sitting here listening to this terrible song, I'd be in a hospital getting my arm sewn back on. I mean, I understand and agree with the anti-war message, but the lyrics seem awfully clumsy. As Stones anti-war songs go, give me Highwire over this any day.

Lyrics have some trouble indeed, but musically I've always like it.

Drums sound a bit rare, don't they?

Blinded By rainbows is an anti-terrorism song, so its from a bit of a different angle than the more fashionable High Wire

The song is fine and, from personal experience, I was pleased when it came out that they had recorded such a song (at a time when it was more fashionable for many acts to be an 'apologist' for such people)

Never liked the guitar solo tho

'Fun to sing by yourself'????

Did you ever feel the blast
As the semtex bomb goes off

Don't sound like much fun to me

Got a lot of bad press in the uk..

Love it. When Voodoo first came out this song really stuck out to me, that guitar sound reminded me a lot of something you'd hear from them in the 60s. Its cool to hear how this song came together in the studio sessions as well.

Absolutely hideous. In fact it a strong rival for the worst Stones track ever recorded.

agree with this....if the lyrics wouldve been personal instead of political the song wouldve worked much better...the music and vocal melody are excellent...thats the only reason this song is very good

Agreed. They should stay away from political stuff.

If Bono or Macca had written the lyrics, it would have been the miracle of the century.... that's how people judge the Stones compared to the rest....

Same with ballads - Phil Collins can sing the worst crap and get #1 allover - Stones can do a much better ballad (fx already over me) and it is only mmmmmm...

But as an long time Stones fan.... who the f... cares what other people think.....

Yes what a great song. Ronnie's solo deserves better than the push back.

Yes, the show where Mick uses the F-word came from the cd "Somewhere over America". I know the show isn't from Virginia or Tempe AZ. Maybe it's from Tacoma or Detroit. Anybody know?

yeah i like this song and rate it as a standout on the voodoo lounge album.. without songs like this all the stones would sing about is cars and birds so nice to see them do a political song

wouldn't call this a ballard as to me a ballard is a long song like Out of Tears but Blinded By Rainbows is a great song on a very worthwhile subject matter

I wouldn't call it a "ballard" either.
