What's the best commercially available filmed Stones concert?

Hi Rolling Stones fans!

Not counting bootlegs and albums, what do you think is the single best Rolling Stones concert currently available on DVD/Blu Ray? Just curious.

My pick would probably be Some Girls - Live In Texas, but the setlist of Paris July 11, 2003, (the Four Flicks Theatre Show) is my favorite setlist.

If you want the 'best filmed' concert (or concerts, as some releases are composites of multiple nights), my pick would 'Let's Spend The Night Together' (1982) by Hal Ashby.

Filmed at Sun Devil Stadium, Phoenix AZ, and Meadowlands Arena NJ in 70mm, the camera angles, pans, lighting, and editing capture the energy and vibe of an early 80's Stones concert - along with some amusing behind the scenes edits, although this results in songs like 'Neighbours' and 'Going to a Go=Go' getting little or no live screen time. Still, the overhead chopper shot of Sun Devil stadium at dusk, really nails the epicness of the event.

The performances are solid too, although some PAL video transfers are sped up and make the band sound overly fast and thin sounding.

Even though it's not all Stones, I'll take the TAMI Show.

The sound quality and grainy film stock are not the best. A good document of that time. The fashions, Keith and Mick T. on guitars, Mick & Keith singing on one mike. It's just too bad the sound is so garbled, even when it was fixed up. The Hal Ashby one is better quality and a good look at the early Ron era.

Performance-wise 'Ladies & Gentlemen' is by far the best of the bunch, but, yes, the sound is not perfect. The best mix I've heard is the Jointrip bootleg. Almost sounds like an audience + soundboard matrix - even better than the official release imo.

Ladies and Gentlemen. The performance outweighs the technical deficiencies.

4Reel version of Hampton '81, George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers absolutely tear it up then The Stones remind us all who is "The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the World" - Universe imo

That's their confidence in having a band at the peak of it's power open for them and then you forget about the opener by the time they hit the floor with the build up backstage.

i'm partial to San Jose '99, L & G, Texas '78, SSS (Hyde Park should be credited as a co-star).

I'm keen to see the full release of Aux Abattoirs or Knebworth.

Alas it's been sped-up* so you don't really have an accurate representation of the Stones in 81... I'd pick instead Hampton'81.

* = for some reason the Keith song is untouched.

Let's Spend The Night Together (US Tour 1981) – Japanese Blu-ray, which runs at the correct speed.

Some Girls is a great performance for sure. If you only buy one other film, get Ladies & Gentlemen.

I DON'T KNOW if I'm the only one, but to my mind, "Shine a light " is THE mastetpiece. M.Scorcese made his dream and mine. Not for those who do love "The last waltz" (really good to sleep)

Shine a light is very artificial.not really a natural gig. Lots of very very beautiful girls..who got paid. Dont like it.

Lets Spend The Night Together

Mick and Keith changed my life in that video, nothing could ever be as good, and as it turned out nothing ever was.
It was like an addiction, had to keep going back to the video store to hire it out week after week until eventually it was released.
Not long after Video Rewind came out and that was fun too.

Of course Ladies And Gentlemen had better music, but it was before my time and so didn't have the same impact.
LSTNT was literally larger than life and Mick was magnificent, Keith was the living embodiment of self parody, the essence of Rock and Roll that he himself invented, and he acted out the part to perfection.

I believe the pitch is off in Shine A Light. It's very noticeable to me and it makes it unenjoyable.
