After being so popular on the Licks tour, how come Don't Stop seem's to have been dropped from the set lists?

And because it's their worst single for at least thirty years, in fact ever.

I actually like this song and I'm a little disappointed it's been dropped as well.

i never heard it in concert myself, but judging from the DVDs
it sure seems like it felt good to play. loosened 'em up, kind of like Tumbling Dice.

It was working great live. But they have 100's of songs in their catalogue including a new album, so they can't play more than 100 songs at a show. Only 20 or so. Simply the luxury problem of having too many songs to choose from.

I am sure that any performing artists with more than 10-20 albums in their backlog have this luxury problem. Their fans have different taste. Some think a song is crap. Some like one song. Some like another. There will always be a lot who want something else. A lot who are missing their favorite song. I don't get Gimme Shelter or Street Fighting Man or Memory Motel anymore live, but I can still enjoy the shows. And I don't start hate campaigns and complain about bad set lists. Because I like a lot of their other songs too. And because I realize there are more fans at the shows than just me...

The song is one of the worst things they did.

i wouldn´t say its one of their worst songs (much better than Blinded by love (SW) or Indian Girl (ER) for example, but neither one of their better....i think the songs on ABB are much better!

Lyrics are good. A good album song. Live it doesn't work. It misses the energy.

Don't Stop was filler and should have never been considered as a single....or certainly not for placment in a greatest hits complilation. It was just a song of opportunity at the time.

#......Go ahead....Bite the Big Apple....Don't mind the Maggots.....Uh Huh...#

I'd have to say that there are a few "real fans" out there who care about the Stones in ways that aren't about blindly accepting any old thing they choose to do.

Of course, the point has been made many times that being disappointed with the tour's setlists is not a matter of wanting to see them perform personal favorites but rather of being depressed when they turn into a stale showbiz act. Is that idea too subtle or complicated for the apologists to handle?

I would think that the people who fancy themselves "real fans" would have higher hopes for a band that vows not to become an "oldies act" and doesn't want to play "Brown Sugar" again and again--and then does exactly that.

My status as a "real fan" has to do with loving the entire catalogue and hoping that the band stays fresh and creative and surprising in some small way. I'm loyal and grateful to them even when they disappoint me in the way they have on this tour.

Given all that, I get a little testy when people designate themselves "true fans" and measure their loyalty by their own lack of critical discernment. Rock On!!!!

I'll seeya in Charlottesville and NYC.

>> lack of critical discernment <<

or what if the criticism is not so discerning after all?
i mean: do any of the chronic critics ever consider the possibility that *they're* the ones who are missing something?
(ahem, i'm not being rude - just a thought someone might want to try on for size.)
