there oughta be a law....

against Mick inviting guest singers on stage for rarities like Wild Horses. Whether you're a Vedder fan (I'm just so-so on him) or not, I think you'd have to agree that if we're gonna finally get a gem like WH on the tour, we'd like it "a la carte." I don't mind when a Sheryl Crow occasionally shows up for a duet on something like HTW, which could use a little something different once in awhile, but let's keep these rarities clean of outside influences....

Well wild horses isn't really a rarity i think. The played a lot at the Licks tour. The switched wild horses and Angie on the stadium shows.

The first thing i thought when i read that Eddie Vedder sung on wild horses was that it was the perfect song for him to sing!!

I agree W/ you i mean i am still in therapy from hearing Dave Mathews sing Memory Motel in Amsterdam , almost ruined my whole trip!!! on the 97/98 tour .....YIKES...makes me cringe........

I also agree. Why do they do this? In 1997 I also had to watch Dave Matthews ruin a Stones classic. Again it was Wild Horses, the only time the song was played on the 1997/1998/1999 BTB and NS tours.

right there should be a strict law...1) you can come out and play guitar IE: Clapton or buddy guy and others on blues songs.....2) singing will only be permitted if you are a hot chick IE: Lisa Fisher or Cheryl Crow and will be limited to two verse on HTW...unless Gimme shelter...3)stipulations for consideration cover songs IE: Night time...love train limited to one song per show.......4) A. under no circumstance's will another artist be permited to sing any verse of Wild horses, Memory motel , Miss you, Salt of the earth .. B.unless it is a supper hot chick see above.(2).5) under no circumstance will anybody by the name of "Justin" or "Timberlake" , " Justin Timberlake"be allowed to set foot with in 50 feet of the stage..decreed on this day sept 29th 20005.... feel free to add amendums as you see fit....

I think Robert Cray sucks even more than Mathews. But think of it this way: Compared to Mick everybody will look and sound like hell. Mick outsing them all, not to mention the charisma!

Robert Cray sucks? What an "out of left field" remark. The guy is one of the most talented (singer, songwriter, guitarists) to come along the last 30 years.

Laws are meant to be broken, . . . or was that rules.

I guess it depends on who's breaking them.

So here's the reason I'd break this law if I were Mick or Keith: being on stage with a Vedder or Crow or (god forbid) a Timberflake gets me (The Stones) access to an entirely new set of listeners (possibly) that would otherwise never listen to the Stones.

Consider that on all the Pearl Jam boards today all the lil jammers are all abuzz about this song that Eddie sung with some dude, something called Wild Horses. Anyone like it? Yeah, another lil jammer says, that song kills. Gotta get me more of that Wild Horses. So consider it the cost of acquiring new listeners. They gotta come from somewhere, they're not just born that way. The Stones are seeding new fields with every Vedder duet they do.

As usual I´m n-o-t with T&A.
Vedder is a fine singer & its sad I wasnt there to hear it.

I´m pleased as long as I d-o-n-t see the Stones on tv on charity
events together with Mike Knopfler, Sting, Clapton & Pete Townsend doin
10-piece-solos in twenty minutes... smiling smiley ... Over and over...

?? Cray saved SBD in Miami! Mick had a completely wrong timing in the rhythm and Cray pulled it together after all, just look at the intro >>
Whether you like the man or not, he was not the one who screwed up

I agree. They should stop inviting these so-so artists and take a real blues musician! I mean, BB King or something. Nobody would complain!
