A bunch of his older work was collected into a compendium called "Shots from the Hip" which is well worth searching out, as is his novel "The Hellhound Sample".
I occasionallly see Nick Kent's by line on pieces in the Grauniad.

Thinking more about Roy's great work in those days reminded me of two more superb music writers of the time, Nick Kent and Charles Shaar Murray. Anyone know what they do these days, I trust they are still with us

Back in the day it was all about musicmags and thanks to Roy Carr and David Dalton I purchased them books, Roy Carrs book has become a puzzle.

it was my bible back then, and the pages about bootlegs and with whom the individual stones did other songs
(for example mick sang on you're so vain and so on) did interest me very much,
then i started to collect bootlegs in the beginning of the 80ies.

This is sad. I too was an avid NME reader in it's heyday. Roy Carr was amongst many great music writers: Charles Shaar Murray, Nick Kent et al. Always paid attention to their reviews and discovered much new music. Thanks Roy!
