Albums From Which All Songs Have Been Played Live ?
Posted by: nmaillot ()

With Sway played two days ago, all songs from Sticky have been played live at least once.
The same goes for Some Girls.
It is not true for Let It Bleed: country honk has never been played live.

Do you see any other album completely played live ?

Country Honk was sort of played in Knebworth.

What about Lies from Some Girls? Where was it played and when?

We have an almost total Beggars Banquet (Jig Saw Puzzle the only one which wasn't played)...

Black And Blue?

I don't know anything about either Cherry Oh Baby and Hey Negrita...

Out of Our Heads [US]

(Cherry Oh Baby was played i believe twice in 75 [at MSG] and once in 76 [Paris];
Hey Negrita was a regular on the 76 tour.)

Hey Negrita was a standard on the 76' Euro tour, around the #4 or 5 spot.

Cherry, Oh Baby was rehearsed a number of times for Licks in '02. I'm not aware of it being played live, but what do I know?

Hey Nigrita was played at least a couple of times in '76.

Maybe some of the "early" have been played completely but i don't know all the set lists from the tours before '69.

Cheers,

That would be nice to have a live version of these three albums.
It would be difficult to choose the best version of each song.

>> three albums <<

four albums: Out of Our Heads [US]. i've edited my earlier post
so you could see OOOH was a title, not an exclamation. :E

For a moment, I thought you were getting pretty excited there. lol

the full total is as follows :

Out of Our heads (US version)
let It bleed
Sticky Fingers
Black and Blue
Some Girls

they're still 2 short for Beggars Banquet (Dear Doctor/Jigsaw Puzzle). Realistically (although unlikely), its the only other album there would be much chance of them playing in its entirety, unless they suddenly decide to break in a lot more songs from A bigger Bang

Hi,

As far as I'm aware, just a bit of 'Country Honk" was played live at Knebowrth, 21 Aug 1976. I don't belive the entire song was played? Anyway, "Let It Bleed" is certainly close to having all tracks played live.

Others have stated: "Sticky Fingers", "Black and Blue" & "Some Girls" have had all their respective tracks played live once by the Rolling Stones.

I'd assume, but don't think we can prove, that the bands first UK and USA LPs ("The Rolling Stones" and "England's Newest Hitmakers" respectively), had all tracks played live in the early years. Perhaps someone can offer more insight into this?

On the other side of the coin: I'd think that the albums with the LEAST tracks played live would be: "Satanic Majesties" (2); "Undrecover" (2); "Dirty Work" (2).

no..they didnt. their setlists were pretty static in the early years and dont forget that the shows were usually very short (25-40 minutes)

yep..here you go..

theres a few things I need to correct and update (working on it at the minute) but you get the basic idea

It's not one of my favorite albums, but I seem to recall they did most of Steel Wheels during the 89-90 tour. The only things I think they didn't play are Continental Drift, Hold On To Your Hat, Blinded By Love and Break The Spell. Anybody know if that is correct?

Continental Drift was used as intro music... doesn't that count? It would be plain stupid to actually play it with musicians. On the other hand, it would be funny.

Blinded By Love was played once in spain in 1990.
BTW, There is bootleg called "Blinded By Love in Spain"

I think it would be cool to get all those native musicians up there to jam with the boys. That song is one of the few highlights on Steel Wheels IMO, along with Slipping Away and Can't Be Seen.

No..because its from a record

If you count that, then you may as well argue that the Stones have 'played' 'Fanfare for the Common Man' or 'Take the A-Train' live...

Are you saying that a turntable can't be played or isn't an instrument?! Gazza, you're such a traditionalist.

Many hip hop and rap artists would take umbrage with your implicit dismissal of their instrument of choice:

I guarantee that tonight from the stage we'll hear this sung, "Where it's at: two turntables and a microphone."

I've long thought that Moonlight Mile would work splendidly live if Mick was only able to play a couple of turntables during the outro. (jk)

But, yeah, I take your point.

Thanks for the link. So, according to that page, Might As Well Get Juiced has been played? Anybody know when, and what sort of arrangement? It seems like it would be difficult to do live with all those loops and beats.

They could do it with a marching band, like Fleetwood Mac did with Tusk. jk

Have they ever played the song "Emotional Rescue" live? If not (and I don't believe they've had), perhaps that would be the only A-side single the band ever released without having performed it live. Or are there others? "Mother's Little Helper", or "She's A Rainbow", perhaps?

Just thought I'd throw another wrinkle into this discussion!

They've done Mother's Little Helper (though not for almost 40 years) and debuted She's A Rainbow in the late 90's.
