I have a couple too, & even tho it was replaced (never 'reconstructed') pretty quickly, they must have sold a minimum couple hundred thousand, so it's never been rare enough to be worth a lot

In UK it was around for longer than that.

I was in NYC July 23rd of 1978, and the new cover came out so it was about 6 weeks after the album came out.

I bought mine when it came out as well. I think it's totally cool to have one but I don't think its worth more that 15-20 bucks (US) if that much.

My uncle owns a couple copies of the original covers in different colors. I own one. The cover is pretty cool and worth keeping.

Damn right it is. I found the one that starts with dark green on the top row.
I have the "under construction" lp, but finding the original was cool. Even if it is not worth a lot, it is still VERY cool to have.

Who the @#$%& is Farrah Fawcett?

No honestly, I don't know the Gals.
There's some nice girls and some really ugly girls on it - oh, thats Keith winking smiley

I bought my copy at Christmas 1979 and it was still the original cover - and it remained that way for some considerable time afterwards in UK shops

In Canada too.

I actually remember thinking: isn't it a little late to change the cover? I mean, hell millions of albums have been sold, isn't the cat out of the bag? I would've said over a year. Let me check on the IOCS* forum and see if they have anything on this.

The first Time I saw the Stones (twice) was on September 30th '73 in Frankfurt - so I should be old enough to know about Charlie's Angels.
But then again it really passed me bye - I never watched it.
So I'm still clueless about the original cover.

can someone help out? plz

I thought the original cover had all the boys' faces superimposed under the hairstyles to make them look like they were in drag.

Is there another cover with the actual pictures of the real ladies?

Well, this is what I have - well halve of it fitting the scanner winking smiley

So - what do I have here?

Re: Some Girls original cover

I'm pretty sure thats a reissue

I think the colour scheme on the original is different(dont have my copy handy as its in the attic) - I dont think the original is yellow, blue and pink

and I dont see Raquel Welch on that cover

there was also an "interim" cover which had lines like "please excuse our appearance" in place of some of the 'litigious' faces, before they were changed to newer ones

the colour scheme after pink is green (didn't fit on scanner)
the inner sleeve of course can be turned around, that would be black&white.
No red lips or blond hair.

The Some Girls cover jungle is pretty interesting. When talking about what is an original cover, we also needs to bring up the country. The cover did look different depending on in which country it was sold in. Just to give you a few examples:

Made in France Pathe Marconi C068 61016
Non censored inner with six ladies an all Stones. Some of them has yellow or red hair
Cover with strong colors, blue, pink, green and yellow at the bottom

Originals from Sweeden, Australia and India (these I have)
Same inner bag as the French one but colors on front cover are different: Green, Yellow, Blue and Pink on the bottom. All colors are strong.

Original from UK CUN 39108 / 064-61016
Same non censored inner as the other ones.
The cover then has the "buff" very light colors, Yellow, Blue, Pink and Green on the bottom.

Is the album pictured here abow made in US?

Then there are lots of cut out censored versions around plus the non cut covers with mostly afro amercan ladies on it. That cover can also be found in various color settings.

All i all, there must be something like 25 to 30 different Some Girl versions aroundsmiling smiley I fave some seven ones and still looking for more

I just checked on Ebay. There's a mint-condition, promotional copy of the original pressing for sale. The bidding has reached $75.

June 16-17, 1978: Some Girls is released in the US and UK.

July 5, 1978: The WEA plant is forced to stop issuing the original Some Girls cover, because of complaints from some of the famous women featured

As far as I can discover, copies weren't pulled from the shelves, they just stopped producing them in the original format.

I've got the original cover with all faces plus it's orange vinyl and includes the full lyrics sheet which wasn't included on the initial run...if you ever have questions on what Mick actually sings...let me know...though I'm sure you can find this in many places.

I bought a copy with the "original cover" on a record market some years agoand paid less than 20 German Marks (in those days about 15$). I'm very glad to have this copy, just like the original "Sticky Fingers" and "Goats Head Soup" with the flip cover.
