I still think the original holds up.

For me, the version on LYL is the tops. It is one of only a few cuts on the collection that I can listen to.

Anyone know what he says on LYL just before he sings.

I haven't got a clue

what Mick says before it is French -

i don't know French to try reproducing it,
but it means "and now Keith Richards will sing for you"

what Mick says after it is the real mystery, at least to me.
it sounds like "do the harendas to THAT if you can" -
but that doesn't mean anything.
someone recently suggested "tune the marimbas to THAT if you can" -
which would make more sense if only there were any marimbas anywhere in the vicinity.

Right, he actually says :

"Et maintenant Keith Richard va chanter pour vous...Happy"

BTW the Imax Happy version is great, great end jamming

The Live At The Max version of Happy is THE best.
Keith is incredible at the end of the song.
It's one of my favourite stones moment

Live At The Max. He took a solo there.

I thought the C2C release "Tune Your Maracas To That If You Can" was the line Mick was saying. It makes sense because I read somewhere that that exact line was the only recording from The Hague recorded on LYL.

Anything from '72 really but I enjoy the '75-76 versions more. And '78, they are great. After that - nada.

Live at the Max is good but the mix is terrible. Live Licks version is probably the worst ever. I'd say the origial is still the best.

But what does Keith say on LYL?

I think he mentions his mum at some point.

Urban Jungle Wembley Stadium Radio One has a terrific version

What the hell does Mick say on LYL "Pour us a Drink Will Ya, Hi-Ho Hold the Light or is it Lime" or something like that? Damn if I know? But it always sounded cool!!;-)

ahhh - the band introductions, you mean?
and what Dannyboy thought was Keith and his mum is Ronnie saying "old bum's rush Jagger"?

just from memory, isn't it something like this?
"shall we introduce the band? [Ronnie: yeah all right] -
Billy, where's Billy? Billy's gone -
Ollie Brown is open for offers; not exactly up for grabs, but open for offers -
Charlie's open to himself MAYBE -
Bill Wyman just wants to take photographs of the girls' legs -
Ronnie Wood's gay [Ronnie: yeah and old Bum's Rush Jagger here] -
Keith of course is completely straight"

And the straight Keith is of course because of Keiths bust the night before?

it's a very nice double entendre, i believe:
straight as in not stoned, and as in not gay.

I know it lacks the "cool factor," but the "Live Licks" version smokes and burns. Woody's electric lap steel playing is not to be believed.

As strangely conceived as the record was, the performances--especially of the stadium tunes--are excellent.
