Granted, but they should be able to figure that out over the week off. SMU is simply too much taken for granted, and almost cliched as an opening song. I think the Stones realized that and dealt with it fairly well with the Licks tour when they continually traded off the SMU opening slot with SFM and a few others.
So now they simply need to get it together, elevate RJ to opener status with a little bit more bite in the guitars, Mick's gotta own it right out of the gate, and Woody's gotta bring something more on the slide. I think if they did those things, it could work.
Besides, if fans got excited about TD being left out, just how excited would they be if SMU and another warhorse were put out to pasture to make room for the new album?
