A big surprise, A Bigger Bang it's the #1 album worldwide for second week with sales of 257,000 copies from 23 countries.

I expect total sales close to 1 million with the next Monday update of Hit List.

georgelicks, How long has mediatraffic been keeping 'world wide' stats? And, who was the last artist to be #1 worldwide two weeks running? Thanks.

Since 1999.
Others Stones albums on the world chart:
2001 - #8 - Mick's GITD - 5 wks on the top 40
2002 - #2 - Forty Licks - 3 wks at #2 (blame to Elvis...) - 19 wks on the top 40
2004 - #24 - Live Licks - 2 wks on the top 40

Coldplay on July 30 and Aug. 6, actually they were #1 during 7 weeks but not in a run. Mariah Carey was #1 for 2 weeks too in late April and early May.
Two weeks at #1 for the Stones it's a BIG thing in 2005.

Georgelicks, look at the link "all time charts" (since 2002). There is Forty Licks at #46, but the site is repoting sales 3.832.000. The real number worldwide is about 7 million (2,5 only in the USA), isn't it? Can you explain Mediatraffic's number ? Is this an older reporting?

I have a hard time believing this.. especially since the album has dropped down the charts lately..
But If it´s true then good work.

What do you mean "if it's true" Jimmie? Of course it's true. ABB sells very well worldwide. At #1 in big markets like Germany and Italia, on the top 5 in others like France. At #1 on Eurochart, #1 in Argentina, Canada. Of course the sales are not great in the USA, but this country is not the "whole world"...
Also, dropping down from #3 to #12 (USA) is not "a tragedy", when there are realeases and new entries of many new albums.

Strange that ABB is not on the Top 100 in Netherlands, according to the site mentioned...

Forty Licks sold 3.832,000 copies up to February 22 2003, the last week that the album spent on the Mediatraffic Top 40. They doesn't count sales when an album drops from their chart. The album sold a lot during the European tour too and its a steady catalog seller worldwide. In US has sold more than 200k only this year. 40 Licks has sold more than 6.5 m. worldwide.

I'm suprised, but considering I've listened to the album about 20 times so far and like it even more now than two weeks ago, it certainly deserves to be #1 for as long as possible.
