Hi folks, realizing that this board is getting more and more controversials between Stones fans themselfes.... Such ones, who love the Stones, whatever they do... and those fans who love the Stones, but critize them as well and those fans, who love the Stones but are bashing them in almost any kind ( setlist,Album,Tix-prices and so on )
I think it is easy to explain. Those fans who are relativly young at age( 16-30) mostly began to fell in love with the Stones in their postmodern area.... They saw their first shows during Steel Wheels and/or VL. They are just like fresh falling in love with a women. They love the band in an unconditional way...not a negativ point at all. I used to be like that about 10-15 years ago. You do not bash the band..as you do not critize you new girl friend within the first weeks and months of your relationship.
The other group are those Stones fans, who are fans since decades. Their relationship to the Stones is like an old couple who are married for more than 30 years or so. They also love the Stones deep from their heart....but, as it is the case when you are married for such a long time...you know evrything about your partner, the gods..and the bads...you know the advantages as well as the disatvantages of your band( husband/wife) So they are critizising the band for these and that....but they can not live without them(anymore). They are moaning from morning till evening....but nevertheless they are 100 % in love with their band. They want the Stones to change in a special way....if they do, they say: Oh, I want my old band back. Whatever the band does....the old fans are always looking for any low points...and they find them because the Rolling stones are not a perfect band.. They are a living band....with ups and downs...but when the individual members of the band come together something magic is happening ( with the words of Charly)....and we love them for that.... people on this board say: Why did we made a wishlist? The Stones did ignore it anyway. Who said that? Just take a look at the Wish list on this forum. We have choosen more than 50 different songs.....most of them with just 2-3 votes...even the winner, I think it was Sway, just got 9 votes or so. That means: The Rolling Stones may play whatever WE want.... after the show you will always find the same reactions: Too loud....not loud enough Wrong setlist..perfect setlist To much guitars...not enough guitars More horns...less horns. to much warehorses...less warehorses.. Ronny was perfect...Ronny was bad.
If they change 12 songs out of the setlist the next day, you will find the same reactions again...and again...and again... whatever they do.
All in all....being around as a band for 43 years now, they have so much to give, that they do have fans with a different taste, cause some love the 60`s Stones...some love the 70`s Stones.. some just love the BIG 4 albums...others prefer the new Stones up from the 80`s...I even do know some socalled hard-core fans who just know the Stones from Steel Wheels up to ABB.
This band leaves enough space for all of us.
Even after being a Stones fan since 1980 I still do find out new things about the band these days. They never bore me....and ABB showed that this band is still alive and as potent as in the good old times.
Sorry for my poor english writing...I am not sure if I could express myself in the right way....so, that you got what I wanted to say. If so...fine. If not...,I say sorry.

sorry salar, you're wrong. I'm 25, seen my first show in '95, (fell in love in '93 when i heard Ya-Yas) but I criticized them a lot too. Young people also have ears. S, when i hear SOL, I just puke. But I'm still in love. ABB is the best thing on this years market so far.
It is not all about music - it's also about lifestyle....
To me it is quite much about lifestyle, the Keith lifestyle (not the drinking / being on drugs), but to be your own, not licking peoples ass, not following the trend just because everybody does it... not running in behind the politicians and licking their asses like U2, Macca etc. do to make headlines and become popular.....
It is about having an opinion and stay with it even if it's not popular.... (here Mick J doesn't fit very well)
To live in reality and not in a dreamworld... (the difference between Stones and Beatles)
