I see today that Croke Park will be staging a Papal visit in August.

Was there a licence application for that one, and if so, will there be a residents meeting to object to the event?

It'd be pretty hilarious if the Stones can get a licence for a gig in Dublin and the Pope can't!

Man, sooo many shows.
Hope there's a Papal Pit this time, and perhaps some new verses.

*Getting a little tired of the warhorses, could also drop No Sympathy for The Devil imo.

Hi,

you forgot that, "The Pope declared Keith Richards is God".

Quite a while ago, but still...

Does anyone have a link to Dublin City Council's original License application for the show? It showed precisee details of pit capacity, GA capacity and GC Capacity etc. I remember seeing it in the original tour rumours thread.

From memory it was something like GA 23,000, GC 8,000 and Pit 1,000.

EDIT : I've just found it myself.

•OEL 0011-2018

HOLDING CAPACITY - PITCH LOCATION AREA
Diamond (No Filter) Pit 1167
Gold Pit 8333 GA
Standing 14000
Disabled Platform 200
HOLDING CAPACITY TOTAL: 23700

That strikes me as being a biggish Golden Circle. No idea what the corresponding figures were for Paris where GA front was excellent. GA in Barcelona was a long way back.

Does not make sense that this is an odd number.

The pitch in a Gaelic Football Stadium is quite a bit bigger than that in a football or a rugby stadium

The size of the pitch at Croke Park is 165 metres x 98 metres

By contrast, Twickenham is 125 metres x 70 metres and Old Trafford is 105 metres x 68 metres

That looks like a very accurate scale drawing to me. If so then the front of GA would be a very good place to watch the show from so I might just go for that. I’m usually an early queuer so looks good to me thumbs up.

Croke Park is huge with very tall stands and holds 82,000 for Gaelic Football. I’m lucky dipping all 8 UK shows but an LD here could end up being half way to the moon!

Wow, thanks a lot for posting these details. Will try for LD and just hope for the best.... well, maybe I will buy a good seat and sell those face value or less once I know what comes out of the LD envelope...

I cannot really imagine that there are LDs for every show, but not Dublin ....
I might be wrong, but it is the largest stadium, it has the latest start to sell tickets, so does not really make sense ....

One thing to keep in mind for those of us buying tickets from the Colonies...

They haven't had their daylight savings yet, so there is only a 7 hour difference from the west coast and 4 hours from the east coast...

I’m thinking 5he same thumbs up By Stones standards, GA is looking like very good value and those seats are pricey and far away. Given how many seats there are, there’s a good chance the dips will end up being there.

Not too bad actually, the GC in Prague holds 15.000 people. What is the normal size of the GC (like in Twickenham for instance)?
