You could not possibly have attended any shows on the Licks tour if you think Ronnie stopped playing well after 1994.

Why do all of you think it's such a no-way idea for Taylor to re-join if
something happened to Ronnie and he left (for whatever reason) ??

Black Sabbath re-formed, Clash was about to when Joe died, it's not out of
the question, as far as Taylor's concerned!!! he could use the money and
hint's at playing with them from time to time... I would love to see it,
even only once!! let Ronnie stay, double - rhythm behind Taylor!!!

Why? Because RW's been in the band for over 30 years now, as long as Bill Wyman when Bill left in '93, and he's where he belongs. And he's kicking ass live right now, on tour.

CreedenceLives,

I DID attend to both the Stade de France and the olympia shows in 2003.
Ronnie was PATHETIC (He almost fell asleep during No Expectation at the Olympia).

Ronnie did NOT stop playing well after 1994. That's simply ridiculous. He stopped playing well after 1982. Everyone knows that.

MLC,
Honestly do you like anything the Stones have done before or after Mick Taylor was in the band. I want to hear your opinion on something other than Taylor, I am not being a wise ass either.

What about the new album, have you heard it?

What he played 75/76 was so bad also!

<<Instead of Chuck they could bring in Jerry Lee Lewis, he also likes to drink a lot. If that sounds a bit weird then crank up Keith's amp so he can lay some heavy solo rhythm down. >>

Now I like that one! Right on..

I see where you first got the idea for your new thread, Creedencelives...

Ronnie won't be replaced. No Stones without Ronnie. The Rolling Stones with only three members? Don't think so. Replace a 58 year old? Too late. Give it a rest.

No way ronnie will be out. Either they all quit or not.

Do you think that Mick and Keith now regret to have chosen him in the seventies ?
I really wonder what kind of consideration they give to Ronnie.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing him replaced. His playing is often out of rhythm and very intrusive.

I know it wouldn't happen, but I think George Thorogood would rock as a Stone..

Are you guys still going to a stones concert ?????
With all that bashing about ronnie, i would never go to a stones concert again!
I say it for once and for all, don`t compare things with 33 years ago, with taylor they also play some terrible gigs, and it`s just stupid to compare ronnie and taylor with each other. the only comparising there is, that they both play(d) in the rolling stones, end..........

George would be cool... just not sure who'd he replace... Ronnie or Keith ??

As for a great guitar duo that could pull it off... replace Ronnie with Johnny Winter and Keith with Rick Derringer... or should it be the other way around ?? I say replace Ronnie with Johnny cuz JW's so great on the slider and steel.

Johnny & Rick have been playin' together forever so let's just swap out the whole guitar section!

Winter and Derringer haven't hooked up in about 30 years to my knowledge....

JJ - Yes I was a Stones fan from the beginning, Everybody needs Somebody,
Satisfaction, Last Time, etc. Was jazzed as hell when Taylor joined and the
music from that era is still my fave (as you can see)

There is some stuff with Ronnie I like; Almost hear you sigh, Slave, Beast of
Burden to name a few. I saw them (with Ronnie) in 1975, liked the concert
but that's the last "live" gig I've been to. Saw many of their shows on Video,
lately they just don't measure up (IMO)

Heard the song, Rough Justice - it's OK, just OK

and to the Clown and his comment (tat2you)

This was the Greatest Guitar Hero band in their Prime (1969-75)
when you had to have a Kick-Ass Guitarist to cut it (Live)

The Stones wouldn'd be where they are now if Mick Taylor hadn't taken them
to the heights they reached from 1969 thru 1975. MLC

Mr.Mcddtlc...disagree with this statement... the stones wouldve been fine without mick taylor (no doubt he was a great guitarist)...however..they still wouldve written all those great songs and found somebody capable of filling brian jones' spot...best wishes

Isn't it time to stop obsessing about Mick Taylor? To say that he was responsible for the heights reached by the Stones on record in 68-72 (BB, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile) is delusional. The Stones, and Mick J and Keith in particular, were at their creative peaks, and they drove the others. I think that even MT has acknowledged that the Stones brought out the best in him as a guitar player, rather than the other way around.

Agreed Leonard. Both Ronnie and Taylor were lucky to get these roles. Taylor more lucky than Ronnie since he had already made it as an accomplished songwriter with the Faces. If Taylor had not joined the Stones most people would have never heard of him. Hell there are people today who don't know who he is which is a shame.

MLC you should at least listen to the new Stones album.

They toured together on the House of Blues circuit... was probably '02 or '03 ?? Great Show!!

I think they've stayed fairly close, Derringer doing more "production" work for Johnny.

Never know. All the ex-Mayall guitarists of the 60's became quite well-known. If the Stones hadn't picked him up, some other high-profile act would have, no doubt.

Leonard, JJ & DR,

Were any of you around back in the late 60's ?? The Stones could have
easily fallen off if they didn't pick the "right" person to replace Brian!!

Numerous bands back then dropped out of sight who were Hot.

Dave Clark Five, the Kinks dropped considerably, Hermans Hermits. Yardbirds

The acts that were making it in Concert, Hendrix, Cream, Fleetwood Mac,Stones
Led Zep, Deep Purple, J. Tull, Pink Floyd, etc.

had something in common - a Ass-kicking Lead Guitarist when you didn't have
stage props to entertain, there was a sort of a competative feel going,
who could put on the best show "musically"

I long for those days!! MLC
