Agreed, their best latter day track since 1974 to me.

1974—-no.

I think it may be the best released after 1981, though. Certainly one of the top 5 or 10 after 1981.

It’s a shame it has never been played by the band live, and never will be.

Agree with all of that.
Had it been played live it might have been elevated beyond the semi-sterility of the studio version, and at the least it would have been a welcome change in the setlist as a new/old song - better than Doom and Gloom.
That said, I never listen to it- Mick's vocals sound contrived and the backup singers sort of ruin it. An instrumental version would have been better, or maybe Keith on vocals IMO.

This song captivated me when I first heard it.
I felt the Exile in my bones.
Mick is a brilliant lyricist.
It’s a real gem.
I give it a ‘10’
‘10’s stand the test of time and remain ‘10’
not awarded lightly.
Think I’ll go out and listen again.

one of the better later day songs.

would be in a top 10 of songs from 1981 onwards, along with the likes of

high wire
love is strong
she was hot

Nice! I love it too, but I'll stick to an '8'. 10s are reserved for songs like Honky Tonk, Gimme Shelter, All Down The Line, Sympathy, Moonlight, etc.
