seing the setlist of last night´s gig in Albany I realized that they skipped
Tumbling Dice .
When was the last time they did not play TD ?
cause to me it feels as if they do always play that tune.
Does someone know, when they did not play it for the last time ?

That's great news. This song has been over-played.
They do not play it well anymore.

Amsterdam Arena 19.8.03
Roseland Ballroom, New York 30.9.02
Palais Royale, Toronto 16.8.02

Theyve played it at every other public show since its release in 1972.

Last night's omission means that this is the first Stones show post-1971 which didnt include a single song from "Exile on main street"

Tumbling Dice is one of the finest Keith's guitar's lyrics to the same level of Gimme Shelter. I would not like to see the Stones next year in Europe without those 2 classics.

No songs from exile for the first time in thirty-four years! "Let It Bleed", "Beggar's Banquet", "Sticky Fingers" "Some Girls", and "Out of Our Heads" are all equal to or better than "Exile on Main Street" anyhow.

It tells a lot about the current status of the Stones as a live band that the non-appearance of Tumbling Dice is treated as such a sensation. I'd rather hear sensational news like "yeah, they did Lady Jane last night - for the first time since the mid-sixties!!!" or the like.

I'm glad that they didn't play it. Maybe they'll insert a rare gem instead. Keep changing that set list boys!smiling smiley

WOW, can't believe thissmiling smiley Finally they dropped TD. It's a good song but still, it has been in the set list since 1971.... Would be HIGH TIME to put this one on retirement list. Is there ANY other song that has been plaid as many time as TD? There are so many other good songs around to choose from.
BTW, the Albany set list is beginning to be one of the best ones I've seen in the past 15 yearssmiling smiley

Out of Our Heads is the equal of Exile On Main Street? It's half covers. Not in the same league. Are we now going to compare Dear Doctor to Torn and Frayed and Let It Loose?

Thank God, that song is total autopilot for them.

Has anyone considered that the exclusion of TD in Albany was an accident?

I was re-reading some of the reviews, and TD's usual #4 spot (for this tour) was "taken" by Shattered, but it was done so in a SNAFU fashion.

While I love the song I'm not disappointed that it was taken out (although personally I'd rather lose HTW, JJF, or BS), but I'm wondering if anyone out there actually saw the set list by charlie or elsewhere written down without TD?

It could have simply been a mistake as a result of playing the "wrong" song, rather than a conscious decision. Of course, I'm only guessing here.

Glad to see TD gone. Great song but WAY overplayed. The only Stones songs I want to see in every show are Satisfaction, JJF and Brown Sugar. I would much rather hear Midnight Rambler or Paint It Black in concert over TD!

Does anyone think it's ironic that there is a popular thread on this board right now on which someone referred to the Stones as a "Vegas act" because of the similarity of the set list from night to night, while on this thread someone is amazed that one warhorse is not played?

I know it is starting to be comical! there was another set list bitch thread that was complaining they are ignoring their 60's work while another one was complaining there were not enough ABB songs and both threads were running concurrently.

that's the ONE warhorse that I never mind hearing....but that's just me, apparently.

they can easily do both of the above in a two hour show with over 20 songs

They can skip at least 5 more of the war horses and add 5 of my favorites that I've never seen! Ok, I'd like them to DROP SATISFACTION, HONKY TONK WOMAN, BROWN SUGAR, YCAGWYW and JJF and ADD LET IT LOOSE, SWAY, TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE, WINTER and VENTALATOR BLUES! Or add 2 additional new tracks like THIS PLACE IS EMPTY and GET RID OF THE WORST! GODDDDDDDDDD, PLEASE get RID OF THE WORST!!!!!!!! Also add LAUGH, I NEARLY DIED! I love that song!
