Jeez the Stones should look at how diverse and long his sets are and take a leaf out of his book.

What a great set.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

yes.. this just makes the stones setlists seem even more boring :-(

Nice setlist. In 2004 (Summer Tour Europe) he played three hours. And no song was streched in length (maybe only Hey Jude a little bit).

I like McCartney and will be going to see him when he hits New York. But you can't compare him to the Stones. Mick actually moves around when he performs, Paul is a statue. For the Stones to play a show of this length, they would have to scale the energy level way down.

Also, this is a mostly Beatles set, meaning a significant number of songs are more than 35 years old. He plays a few Wings songs but, for the most part, he ignores the seventies, eighties and nineties. Although I am completely unfamiliar with his new album, based on the comments above, it appears that he only plays three new songs.

So this is a mostly hits set list that skips large portions of his career and only briefly touches on new stuff. Other than the length of the show, how is that different from what the Stones are doing?

For me, I am interested in seeing McCartney and was a big Beatle fan. So I will be at one concert. That will be enough for me. I have already been to five shows on the ABB tour and will see at least five more.

Mccartney sure gives his fans their money's worth!
"I'll Get you" was never peformed live by the Beatles, save once on a TV show. (I think that version is on Anthology 1).

Whats' the "classical song he and George used to do?" can't be "Blackbird", cause that track is really Paul solo, with no other Beatles on it.

You are kidding right?
Mccartney is playing about TEN songs he´s never palyed in the US before. How many has the Stones done this far on the new tour?

I think it's that you see a lot of material (according to Jimmie's original post) that was a) never played live or b) never played in the States. I counted 15 from Jimmie's list that have not been played live or played stateside. That is very different from the Stones, you'd have to agree.

I'll take a set list like Paul's in exchsnge for some running around! Can you imagine if the Stones broke the set list into 4 parts; the 60's, then Exile and Sticky Fingers and on to ( briefly) the 80's and then the 90's through the present! YICKS! I'd pay thousands to see THAT!

It is not about quantity but quality..... rather 2 h of good music than 2 h 40 of shit

Macca is quantity, Stones is qaulity....

Saw Macca's drummer (if you can call it a drummer) - rather hammering the drums, than playing drums.... this could be said for must of Macca's music.....

"FV" has it right (almost 100 per cent)

He is totally right about the Stones.

Macca, on the other hand, S U C K S Big time. What a joke and wimp!

Indeed a fine set-list. I tried to get into his new album though. It all sounds the same til the middle when you get some gooshy, sickenly sweet tripe that had me bolting out of the chair last night to turn it off.

It goes back to the store today.

Paul McCartney's show is every bit as fantastic as the Stones show. Paul plays exactly the right mix. He plays from his latest albums for each tour and tosses in a few from different parts of his solo career. He plays lots of Beatles songs, because he is smart enough to know that his career with the Beatles was a thousand times more important than his solo career. Nevertheless, anyone who says he skips his solo carreer in concert knows nothing about his set lists. He has played a few from every era. He can also make the Beatles songs sound like the originals, because he hires a technically proficient band to back him up. His voice is not what it used to be for sure, but so what. He walks out compltely alone on stage with an acoustic guitar and performs Blackbird, We Can Work it Out, Yesterday and others. [no backing musicians or backing vocals]. He has, until this specific tour, avoided the Lennon songs and stuck to his own, save the Lennon and Harrison tribute sections. This time he added "I'll Get You"which was a Lennon-McCartney duet; and "Please Please Me" which was a Lennon lead vocal and written by Lennon.

Right, BOBM. Very good remarks - after some stupid posts here (Stones quality, Macca quantity). Well, I love the Stones, I would not be here if not. But concerning quality you just should hear the fantastic guitar player Rusty Anderson (Macca band) while poor Ronnie (supposed quality guitar player) gets bashed here all the time by quality-loving-Stones-fans themselves:

McCartney has always annoyed me, but looking at that, I can't help but be impressed by his interesting choices (smartly counterbalanced by huge crowd pleasers).

At the same time, I'm a little embarrassed that the Stones haven't been as thoughtful in presenting their work. Imagine what the Stones equivalents of "For No One" and "I've Got A Feeling" would be..."Lady Jane" and "Sway?"

I'm still looking at that list and drooling...

"Good Day Sunshine"
"Got To Get You Into My Life"
"She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"

what would be the equivalent Stones tunes for those?

For "Magical Mystery Tour?"

Stones fans are jealous and have major chips on their shoulders about the Beatles. Both bands are great and both contributed more than any two other bands to the history of rock music. No need to put Macca down, that's just stupid.

yes exactly!!

Beatlesfans can´t stand when people talk about the Stones being the greatest rock n roll band in the world, and Stonesfans can´t stand it when people talk about the Beatles (And especially McCartney) getting good reviews or doing something great.

whimps!
