Yes, today at the local Radiostation NDR Bernd Zeppin (i think it was him) from FKP Skorpio said the Stones might take a look at this brand new stage today or tomorrow and might do some sound check!

Hope so, but could be just them getting the lay of the land of the stage, etc - I recall Mick having pics of himself on stage at various empty stadiums during the Zip Code tour (I think it was).
Could also be some type of rehearsal though?

It takes almost two hours to walk around the site in Stadtpark, as it is all fenced up now. So make sure you have plenty of time when you arrive, it is a large area, and you need to know where the entrances are.

Shows the screens in action, can't say I find the gaps between the towers very pleasing for videos, but...

Just a theory.
I feel bad enough being the privileged guy who will be in the NF pit in Paris 3 times when most of my good friends will be behind us because of the price. So i won't argue about the change (but i can understand that some people are disapointed). Just saying, could it be a special setting for the german shows just because the diamond circle is a seating area? I mean, i've read somewhere (here probably) that the whole stage was made very adaptable to fit in
every places. Obviously, the most versatile part of the stage is the pit, it seems very easy and not xpensive to change the size or the shape from show to show.

So are they rehearsing right now? I was there this afternoon and would drive by later on.

There was no drone launch possible today because of rain, rain and more rain. Oh, I forgot the wind..

Good for you people. I know the Stones can be especially good in the rain, i've experienced it a few times, but hey, we all get old...

However, this picture could be made from the Planetarium.

Like Jumpingjackflash59, I also think that the pit configuration might change in venues with a more confined space. I can't see it being the same in Lucca, for example, but stand to be proved wrong. Maybe Zurich will hold the answer (50,000 capacity v. 80,000 in Hamburg).

From the photo above it seems the drum stand has it's own small roof. It does not seem hard to move it around either.

looks like there's a lot more work to do. Thus I somehow doubt that the Stones will do a sound check today. Maybe they are just about to take a look at the place, the light show, whatever.

I'm also somehow worried about the gaps between the video towers. I might look great from some distance, but in case you are close to stage you might see more sky than videos… But maybe they put up some curtain to cover these gaps
