I can't remember, LOL I know the first one I bought with my own money was 'Between The Buttons', but, I can't remember if I already had 'Big Hits' or not, I think so. So I'll go with Big Hits as my first. (Man, those pitures on the inside were great!)

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.

The first one I heard - probably Let It Bleed being blasted at loud volume before I was ever actually born.My first purchase included three albums.Exile On Main Street,It's Only Rock 'n' Roll, and Tattoo You - bought for the hits on them & was stunned by the quality of the non hits.

Simultaneously:

1. 'Big Hits (High Tides and Green Grass)'

2. 'Got Live If You Want It!'

A perfect introduction to the Rolling Stones, since it permitted me and my bro and sis to hear them at their very best, and their very worst. When I then saw them at Altamont two years later, this pattern was confirmed.

Well, I really started to take interest in the Stones in 1989 thanks largely in part to a classmate of mine in college. We were listening to our walkmans one day and he had a shopping bag full of cassette tapes. He handed me one particular tape and basically said that I HAVE to listen to it because it had this cool song called Midnight Rambler on it. So Let It Bleed was my first album. And what an album it was...and still is!smiling smiley

My parents bought me Tattoo You in 81 cause I kept begging them for it. I must have been 9 yrs old.

I remember being in a department store with my parents and seeing the Sticky Fingers cover when it first came out, I was fascinated by it but knew nothing about the band, and thought my parents would think it was dirty so didn't even think about asking for it. I guess I was around 12. But it planted a seed, I guess (yes, an album cover - maybe it turned me on if that's possible at that age!) But it didn't germinate until I bought Goats Head Soup when it came out two years later. I've got to say, mining the whole back catalog those first couple of years was one of the highlights of my life as a passionate rock fan.

Still Life, 1982. Heard it on the then $ 180 dollar Sony Walkman. The guitars on Under My Thumb REALLY grabbed me, especially thru those Walkman headphones. That was the first Album I actually purchased.

My older brother was a Stones freak and I remember waking up every morning for quite a while to Some Girls. He would play the 45 od Shattered over and over and over.

The first song that really grabbed me and made me wanna play guitar was Little T & A. Although I had been listening to them, (whether I wanted to or not) for some time, T & A was THE SONG that abducted me.

Made sure it was played prominently at my wedding and was on the CD's we had made (175 of them) to give as favors along with "Happy"

Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass).

Had heard the earlier ones at friends' turntables and taperecorders but when I got my own turntable I (the same day) bought Big Hits.

This was a time (mid 60's) when you didn't afford buying albums. Instead you wished them for birthday or christmas gift (but your parents in most cases find it unnecessary).
You had to record here and there and let your friends record from you.
And be prepared when pop-programs were broadcasted by radio (which was a couple of times a week).

Everything wasn't better in the old times.

Ahh....my first true experience with the Stones was Beggars Banquet. My friend's older brother had just brought it home from the store in autumn '68 and the three of us sat and smoked a nice joint and grooved to that still fantastic album. Of course I had been hearing JJFlash on the radio and was familiar with other hits from the few previous years, but 'Banquet' will always be remembered as my beginning with the Stones.

I am Hungarian, and I was 15 in 1977 and was on holiday with my parents and with my brother in Yugoslavia. When we arrived at the Hungarian border started listening to Hungarian radio. Then was an announcement that next day they'll show the Rolling Stones on TV once again because of high interests. It was I think the 1976 Paris gig. Next day I could see them on Hungaian TV, and that was very unique in those days. Before that I was not interested in rock. The feeling of the RS concert was very interesting and strange to me. Mick's performance had a very exotic bluesy cool style that I never seen before.Later that year I got Love You Live and I loved it very much. At that time there were many new rock bands even an anti-establishment rock movement in Hungary and a lot of tension about the youth problems as the communist media called it. One of the band called Hobo Blues Band played RS and blues. I was a fan. From that year I started collect Stones LPs. My first live experience was 1982 in Vienna.

First one was Voodoo Lounge - strictly speaking it was my dad who bought it, but I was the one who listened to it most. I saw the first concert shortly afterwards but I think I was too young (12) and too far away from the stage to be really impressed. I cannot remember much from the concert, only that they showed a porn clip during HTW.

In 1968 i fell in love with "Jumping Jack Flash".I was 14 at the time. My Mother took me out to find the single and every other lp we could find. My Mother loved Elvis, Little Richard and all other rock and roll from the Fifties on. She even got me a ticket for my first Stones show in 1969.Thanks Mom. RIP.

I must have been 13 or 14 and bought "Rolled Gold, the very best of the Rolling Stones"
as a cassette. Sympathy for the Devil didn't sound good on my small tape recorder,
but Paint It Black did!

I said 12X5 but I actually remember being given a couple of 8tracks in grade 7 or 8 that was a hits compilation on two 8 tracks, Perhaps it was Through the Past Darkly, I can't remember, but I do remember how frustrating it was that a couple of the tracks were actually split in two as the tape moved from track 3 to track 4. Drove me nuts to hear the songs broken up. Who was the idiot that came up with the 8track anyway?
