And a great Gig it was !! Just a drummer, a young Bass player and John on Harmonica,Guitar, piano and Hammond organ.
Boy, he is 81 or so, but what an energy he still has. !!The place was packed with older people mostly, but a good crowd. It was very hot in the room. I fantasized to see the Stones paying here! He played for almost 2 hours and the band was smoking !!
Going to see John Mayall in June in a small tavern here in Massachusetts.
Great place to see a show as you sit at tables with other fans and can have dinner and drinks before the concert.
I saw him about 3 years ago in a small venue in an old factory mill that was transformed into and art gallery with a small stage for concerts. The place held a couple of hundred people and John could not have been more gracious.
He actually was manning his own table selling his CD's and after the show he met with fans to chat and sign autographs. You can tell the man really still enjoys playing and meeting his fans. A real gentlemen of the blues who does not get the credit he deserves IMHO.
