I thought it was really pretty cool when I heard Shelter at halftime and then throughout the second half of the game. I had missed the opening and didn't realize that it was part of a theme. My thoughts were not whiney at all, more on curiosity end. As in: Who came up with this idea? Was it the Stones? Was it the NCAA? Was it ESPN? Although it was fun for me to hear, stepping away from my position as a Stones fan, I was really surprised that, whomever picked the theme, the song, etc., chose something so old. A song from the 60's at a game played by kids born in the mid to late 90's made me start thinking "was there not a song more contemporary that they could have used?" Don't get me wrong... I wasn't complaining, just had a somewhat judgmental (also vindicated) analysis going on in my head.
End of the day: I'm with HankM: "I was delighted....
It was a unexpected great cut from a great tune played during a great game."
Peace
Mr DJA

I noticed that too. (Great game, by the way. I'm glad Clemson knocked of the SEC team. I'm thoroughly tired of being told how superior SEC football is.)
I wonder if the Rolling Stones get compensated for something like this. Does the TV network have to buy permission to use the song?

dunno re the song part.
i'm sort of an SEC guy myself, and i agree the SEC football media-hype mantra gets old.
but you do know that Dabo Sweeney played at Alabama?
