Most Stones songs are not really difficult to play. Pulling a song off live is a different thing, though. There are a number of songs they actually played live but which never really took off for one reason or another - Mixed Emotions, Moonlight Mile, Anybody Seen My Baby - to name a few.

the ones Mr. Taylor contributed most heavily to, for instance:

Sway
Time Waits for No One
Moonlight Mile (yeah, I know they tried in '99, but....)
Winter

I hear it's being rehearsed...they are bringing the Pipes of Joujouka along....

Continental Drift and We Love You are good candidates. Dandelion would probably sound pretty dippy live, as it is a pretty dippy studio recording.

That Mick Taylor hype is getting old. Ronnie's solo on CYHMK at the Harford Civic center was much better than Mick Taylor's wimpy studio guitar rendition. Torn and Frayed on the Licks tour was better than on Exile too.

I think that 2000 Light Years From Home and Moonlight Mile were probably real headaches to perform live. But they did a good job of both songs. I'd love to hear and see them attempt We Love You and Something Happened To Me Yesterday. That would be a real kick!

Maybe not the most difficult to perform, but what about Just Wanna see His Face.... that vibe would be impossible to nail

Somethiing Happened To Me Yesteday would probably be the highlight of the tour. I love that song.

It's hard to explain my take on Mick Taylor, because I have no techical guitar knowledge. In "layman's terms" Taylor plays flowing notes, high notes, which I do not prefer. Maybe techically superior, but I don't care for it. I like better the more raw notes a little lower in the scale, and not necessarily flowing together. I also hate all "extended" guitar solos, by any of the Stones, so short and sweet version of songs are always the best to me. The long versions of Sympathy, You Can't Always Get What You Want, and Street Fighting Man, for example, from the seventies pale pathetically to the crisp clean versions of the 90's and 00's. That's my preference, and my credibility is not affected by it.

Waiting On A Friend.

Mick Taylor did not play on the studio verison of Torn & Frayed from what I remember. I don't think Sway would be hard to pull off live.

Let It Loose or As Tear Go By would both be tough perhaps yet interesting to hear them try.

On recent records, Gunface and Break the Spell come to mind - I like both songs and think they were both overlooked. They also sound as if they might be tricky on stage.

Anything that requires jagger to sing either at the top of his range or in a full on howl is not worth doing any more.

Loving Cup and Mamoer Motel for example, he plays safe and it kills the song.

Crazy Mama didn't work live because he didn't sing it in the ragged, howling way that graces Black and Blue but sort of half spoke it like a muddy waters kind of thing.

I'm really excited about seeing the band when they finaly get to the UK but I'm not desperate for any rarities because of recent pale retreads (Sister M, Loving Cup and Moonlight Mile) I'd love to hear let it loose but can you imagine that with Mick saving his voice?...better not bother at all!

Yo Padenis... the stones only played Waiting one time on the 40 Licks tour if I'm not mistaken... AND MY LUCK I WAS THERE !! That was the 2nd Chicago 40L show at U.C....

It was PERFECTION...

The songs I've heard that have not done well in "live translation" were:

Sister Morphine
Bitch

While I love both songs on CD, they just didn't seem to work live. Sister Morphine didn't get enough "drama" into the feel... unline, say, Midnite Rambler or Can't Ya Hear Me KNockin'...

And Bitch just didn't "swing" in an interestingly enough way... "it's a Bitch..." boing... that beat following this just didn't carry in a major way worthy of a stones performance when I saw it live, also on the 40 L tour.
