What a show.

I'm at a cottage just down the road a piece from Bobcaygeon, where my own love affair with Canadian sky and water started some 47 years ago. To be able to watch that incredible last show, turn off the TV and listen to the loons cry for me was perfect.

Gord's voice is showing the strain of so many shows and so much emotion. The CBC gave us a perfect gift - interrupting the Olympics for three prime time hours with no commercials or inane commentary, hanging in through a third (!!!) unplanned encore, and just letting us all share it. Such guts and grace, and such music. So grateful for it all.

The set list from Saturday night's Tragically Hip show in Kingston, Ont.:

"50 Mission Cap"

"Courage"

"Wheat Kings"

"At the Hundredth Meridian"

"In a World Possessed by the Human Mind"

"What Blue"

"Tired As F---"

"Machine"

"My Music at Work"

"Lake Fever"

"Toronto #4"

"Putting Down"

"Twist My Arm"

"Three Pistols"

"Fiddler's Green"

"Little Bones"

"The Last Of The Unplucked Gems"

"Something On"

"Poets"

"Bobcaygeon"

"Fireworks"

Encore 1

"New Orleans Is Sinking"

"Boots or Hearts"

"Blow at High Dough"

Encore 2

"Nautical Disaster"

"Scared"

"Grace, Too"

Encore 3

"Locked In The Trunk Of A Car"

"Gift Shop"

"Ahead By A Century"

Good afternoon: I thought you went. Wild ride alright. I tried to figure out how to hook a VCR up to record but decided to just watch this whole thing happen. These guys made a connection between a Country and Music and will be missed.

I never once heard TH on the radio in the States. There was a Canadian tv show that I used to watch--must be at least 15-20 years ago--and there was this great song that they played during the closing credits. So I taped an episode so that I could pause it and read what song it was and what band: Blow at High Dough, the Trajically Hip. So I bought the CD with that song on it: Up to Here. Great album, really enjoy it. Knew nothing about the band, not even that they are Canadian, just really like that album. So sad to learn the news about Downie's illness. So all you Canadian TH fans, which of their other albums should I buy? I will only buy one or two, so please don't tell me to buy them all. Let me know your recommendations. Thanks. And peace to Downie and the band.

"Live Between Us" is an excellent live record. Whenever I break it out, I have a hard time getting it out of my cd player. Really good article on link below.

Here's another one - this touches on the issue of a band "ending" which also kinda resonates now Stones-wise.

If you are only adding 1 or 2 more to Up To Here, you might also consider Day for Night.

If you want to experiment a bit, you could try We Are The Same and/or World Container. Those 2 albums got me back into the band after I pretty much lost interest following Music @ Work - an album I would not recommend.
