Finally, giving up drinking and smoking.
"complete lack of commitment"
Maybe silly, but when I first got Keith's 'Crosseyed Heart' his voice sounded so clear and good, I thought no way is this man really been smoking packs of cigs on and on for decades.
Then, when I saw the documentary 'Under The Influence' the clip where Keith's inside his house/ living room, lights up a ciggie, Patti comes over waves her hand a bit, then they kiss/ hug in front of camera I thought:
No way Patti Hansen's letting that man smoke up like a chimney in her house.
Can't see it.
Keith is an anomaly - wouldn't be surprised and I suspect he smokes while being a Rolling Stone- his time to party. Maybe he's the 1 guy that can pick them up and then put them right down. Yeah, he's a one off for sure ;-)
Depends on the strength of the cigarette, how many a day, etc.
My mom-in-law's house, you barely feel it. She smokes weak ones, open window and cleans up after her. She smokes - 10-15 a day.

He is almost 70, he smoked (a lot) for about 55 years or even longer, had a decades ongoing alcohol addiction, was partying hard for decades and still looks better than most 50 year old guys.
I know people who never smoked or drank, are vegetarians or even vegans, doing sports on a regular basis, living a pretty solid lifestyle and had a heart attack with 52 or looking like 55 at the age of 41.
Ronnie's a lucky guy.
