OT--should I go see Meat Loaf?
Posted by: keefmick ()

I am thinking of going to see Meat Loaf on Thursday in Pompano Beach FL. Has anyone seen him in concert recently? I have read varying things from amazing to awful but trust the views on this board. So, thoughts?

Yes. Just before you want to cook it, go see it at the market.

Favorite meatloaf memory...me having a heated discussion with my sister, telling her how much I hate Meatloaf. My mother pokes her head in the room and with a hurt look on her face, says, "But..but....I thought you loved my meatloaf!"

He's not a bad actor, but I'm still not a fan of his music.

But hey keefmick, I'd say if the tickets are cheap enough, then go. Good or bad, you'll probably have some fun anyhow. smileys with beer

True and true ... good role in Fight Club! Music wise, everyone at least has to love Hot Patootie, Bless My Soul ... great tune!

Jesus Rockman, that was brutal. I get the question, I could have considered it for $30 or something...until I watched that video.

Um no, I would not go see Meatloaf under any circumstances. Ever.

I can't see what video was posted but I can tell you from about 2008-2013 he had a very rough patch. his voice is a bit better now after surgery. if its cheap you should go.

that being said he has 6 really stellar albums. I honestly don't know if I like bat 1 or 2 better

Did he do anything to correct being incredibly boring on stage too? Really, that video is like a snuff film. I thought you liked us Rockman...that was a straight right to the chops...ouch.

I mean honestly he kinda always just stood there and sang. yes back in the day he ran around a bit but he is a singer not a rock n roll entertainer.

well I mean I would only pay knowing what I was getting. he's a singer like the bee gees or Michael Bolton or an opera guy. I would never think he was going to be DLR or jagger or something like that on stage.

if you can tolerate his voice and want to hear passionate singing though go see Michael Bolton and hope he does a bunch of opera tunes and pre 1990 songs

Of course you should go!

You should know by now that if/when you consider a show, and then don't go, later you always regret not going.

Worth a try. I have taken chances in the past and am usually pleasantly surprised.

Just go & find out for YOURSELF.

That's what we're here for right? To live & experience everything @ least once?

Could be a good night, could be a horrible night but at least you went.

Never know who you could run into.

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

thumbs up
Never know who you could run into or what kind of fun you could have with them.

The only regrets we usually have are opportunities not taken.

I would totally go if it were at a bar/club of 200 people or fewer, and costing $12 or less.

Otherwise, reruns of Hogan's Heroes would be more worthwhile.

To paraphrase the Loaf, I'd do anything but I wouldn't do that.

Although I've heard that Meatloaf does a wonderful version of We Don't Need Another Gyro.

Always go and hear/see live music whenever you get the chance.

Then again, I'd advise staying home and putting on a good Stones concert DVD!

I'm with Ming... If you have the time and the resources, odds are you'll come away with some sort of experience that will make the investment worthwhile.

Peace,
