I really enjoyed it. It does sound very much like a Homme project at first listen, his stamp is unmistakable.

Really? Ig said Josh wanted to make a sequel to "The Idiot" and "Lust For Life".

I heard one tune on the radio and what struck me is that the drums sound beautifully. Not processed not filtered not gated, They sound like real drums.

Because the drummer is great. Matt Helders from Arctics Monkeys... That's actually what catched my attention on the first listen, the drums parts are excellent.

Iggy Confidential
Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop continues to serve up a sonic cocktail to kick the weekend off.

This week he's spinning tracks by FKA Twigs, Keith Richards, The Libertines and a rarity from show favourites Sleaford Mods.

Iggy's musical legacy has inspired and energised rock and roll's alternative spirit since the late Sixties and his stage antics have marked him as a truly iconic frontman.

On his website, it shows he is doing the festival circuit in Europe this summer sans Josh Homme, etc. I think maybe this is the last major headlining tour where he's doing full on 2 hour shows. Iggy has used the Euro festival circuit as a cash cow for years, even when the Stooges reformed. It's easy money for him. 45 minute set, off to the next one. More power to him! I hope he has a good retirement.

Saw the warm up show at the Teragram Ballroom Wednesday. Incredible 110 minute show. Won't list any spoilers, go look at setlist.fm if you care. Seated almost makes sense, Iggy doesn't stage dive or crowd surf anymore. This was a small stage but he was limping almost immediately. His voice is still flawless though.

I like the whole record but I would tend to agree with you. Paraguay is a stunner. Kind of his sonic version of "get off my lawn!".>grinning smiley<

Thanks for the link!!

The album sounds good, abeit I wouldn't go so far to define it as a masterpiece.

Favourite track: "Gardenia" (which sounds also kind of Bowie-ish);

"German Days" also is interesting.

"Chocolate Drops" is the most commercial one, but I think it works really well from that standpoint.

"Paraguay" starts off like a classic, but after I while it got boring. I'll try to listen again to that, though!

The Taragram show looked like a lot of fun...The Greek? Not so much. Huge, seated and expensive...bad combination.

Not loving the new album...but I do love me some Rock Iguana!

I miss the Asheton Brothers.

I was lucky & got to see the Stooges twice with the Asheton brothers twice. That was something! This will be a different head but I am fine with that. I love those records he did with Bowie & this band is sounding real good. I listened to "Lust for Life" from last week's LA show & it rocked well. Now if we can get them to do "Search & Destroy" during the encore...

I haven't found anything yet but I'd love to hear this show. I'm on the fence about the new cd after hearing it a few times I don't get any Idiot or Lust for Life emotions, and those two albums are in my DNA.
