1978 Best Group Poll ZigZag magazine.

While playing Ian Dury & The Blockheads New Boots & Panties DELUXE bonus CD I had a look in the booklet and there is a copy off the 1978 poll of ZigZag magazine in it. Best LP... best single..., best male singer..., best female singer..., best etcetera...
THE ROLLING STONES (or members) are nowhere to be found, except in the BEST GROUP LIST:
1. THE CLASH
2. BUZZCOCKS
3. RAMONES
4. BLONDIE
5. SEX PISTOLS
6. SIOUXSIE and THE BANSHEE
7. FLAMIN' GROOVIES
8. THE ROLLING STONES
9. PATTI SMITH GROUP
10. THE STRANGLERS

Not bad.

It looks like the Rolling Stones might be the only band still around in that list!

Saw blondie play recently ( in some vaguely similar arrangement ) patti smith is still operational from time to time , the clash are talking of a reunion - it's not all doom and gloom

Yeah and the ZigZag rolling papers were a heckuva lot better than that lame punk band poll.
