A new brain-teaser for the new year.

A clue to a month in the history of the Stones (from July 1962, the month of the first show, onwards, for sake of ease).


One of the Stones gets a nasty shock. The band get in the lift and press 19. One who speaks infrequently onstage takes the microphone.


For the benefit of others, please follow the advice of my old mathematics tutor and 'show your working' while playing...

March 1965, Bill Wyman was the one shocked in Odense. I don't know about the 19th floor reference but assume someone besides Mick took the mic at the Scene at 6:30 or the Thank Your Lucky Stars shows.

In addition to Wyman's electric shock, my clue alluded to the 16-room suite the band stayed in on the nineteenth floor of a hotel in Copenhagen, and Watts introducing 'Little Red Rooster' onstage at the Regal Theatre in Edmonton, London on 5 March.

So I had the right year by accident for completely irrelevant and superficial reasons, Well done Naturalust for remembering that this is Olly's quiz and therefore the first answer that occurs to you (or at least to me) is always wrong and the real one is only accessible to proper fans.

Hope you enjoyed the Scotch - tastier than confetti and you don't have to sweep up the mess afterwards.
